Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
If I'm reading the information correctly, we each have to actively choose to participate in the challenge for our meters to count. Here's the link (requires login):

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
Been away for a few days.
Just to confirm though, it is no longer necessary for the captain to sign a team up for a challenge (just as well since I had taken my eye off the ball ), but it is necessary for each participant to confirm that they are taking part.
Not been doing much rowing recently following nasty cough and even nastier copious quantities of work so haven't felt up to it. This needs to change, so I will be gently starting out as of today. Going to be a long hard road back, but every journey starts with the first step.

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
Strider - 20k before work? Nice way to start the morning.
Stan - Hope you don't have the same cough I had this winter; it stuck with me for 8 weeks! Just awful. Good to see you got some rowing in today! =D>
Strider & CamiCrew - Yep; I'm back. Sort of. Poor health finally kicked my butt off the computer and back on the erg; but it's going to slow going for a while, I'm afraid. Yesterday I managed 60 min... at a 3:12 pace. But my spirits are high (and free) and I'm full of enthusiasm. I managed some strength training today, and I have some shorter (and harder) rowing scheduled for later in the week.
Cheers,

Nice work, Alan! =D>
Lower body strength training this morning, followed by a very leisurely 45 min recovery row (+wu, cd). 8441 metres.

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
Am I reading this right?
Trevor rowed over 100k on Wednesday and then did a full marathon as a recovery row on Thursday?
And has 467k for the last 7 days?
=D> =D> =D>
I might manage another 7,500 tomorrow.

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
Yep that's about right, on Thursday I had to take the afternoon off for a MOT on the old banger, so was restricted on what I could do. Mind you that was a small mercy as I was feeling a little tired OK more like exhausted.zootMutant wrote:Am I reading this right?

Will be taking it a bit easier now ( just a 1/2M a day till the 15 )as my intention from the start was just to try and get 1MM for challenge, but with a new toy....and being on holiday....well you got to play with it a bit and put it through its paces. It been great fun and have been looking into the old butt problem that a few people seem to have problems with ( posted in the 100k thread). Only done a slow 10K today.
Still Free Spirits seem to be slowly pulling back up , hopefully to the top. May be something to do with your return.
Happy rowing, and every meter counts. Let give it a go for Free Spirits.

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
You do know that it isn't necessary to win the challenge as a team of 1?Tgtaylor wrote:my intention from the start was just to try and get 1MM for challenge
If by new toy you mean you've acquired an erg, I know they are fairly indestructible, but even Concept 2 might invoke a "fair wear and tear" clause on any warranty claimTgtaylor wrote:but with a new toy....and being on holiday....well you got to play with it a bit and put it through its paces.

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
I was thinking, Trev, that if I left my log card inserted into the rowing machine at the gym and came back the next day and collected the meters that everybody else rowed... I still wouldn't be able to touch you!
Very well done. =D>
It seems like the gap between us and Age without Limits is bouncing around like a yo-yo. We might catch them... on the nod.
Fun fact: Of the 319 members of Community Fitness Pointe of Munster, In., 318 of them are 116 years old!
A morning of upper-body weights followed by 12,800 meters for me today. Rest day, tomorrow.

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
Yesterday -- an 8-mile walk along a deserted California beach (I didn't know there was such a thing!)
Today -- lower-body weights, followed by a 60 min UT2 (+10 min wu, +5 min cd) = 14,741 metres. I'm slowly increasing the pace: today, 2:48.
Cheers,

Re: 2016 World Erg Challenge
Eight miles?! That's a walk. California's little secret: all that looks sunny isn't necessarily warm.
Awesome rowing Trevor! Glad you have the new toy to run through its paces!
