Time saver! - CTC signature image

Post by Thomas W-P »

I have written a new utility to save repeated typing in of your PBs on the CTC image generator.

My new page allows you to save the times as a cookie on your machine - so next time you enter a PB (using the same computer) all the times will be there and you only need to update one time.

I cannot think of a catchy name for this thread or the new tool. Answers/comments below please. It is, er, tested. Might not, er, be fully bug free. Please let me know either way.

The CTC signature image PB time saver device.

Oh yes, I added 50km for Mike and Paul ;)

Thomas, I tried using your time saver link but it is virtually unreadable as it presents the page on a very dark blue backgound (FS colour). I also have the same problem with the news letter link.
All other links are fine.
I've just upgraded to IE7, hope this isn't the cause.

Here's the deal. IE7 mangles the web site because it is not standards compliant.

The dark blue was because the footer floated to the top of the page (I think this is because IE does not implement CSS properly). The upshot is that I have disabled the footer from the pages where it was not working and will look at it again in time.

I don't think it materially affects the site.

Thanks jainser. Great to meet you today.

And the CTC guy (Daren) has already updated his page to do the same after seeing my posting the C2 CTC forum. He is also getting it to remember the image name so you don't need to change the profile so much (though this might well stump my and Mikes method of remembering our PBs as images.)

I will leave my utility up because it allows the truly psychotic to enter their 50km times...

It is worth noting that the original CTC image maker has had a makeover and now DOES support "PB remembering", AND keeps the image name the same so you don't need to update your profile in the forum. I told Darren (who maintains it) what I had done and he updated the page.

He also gave me the code for generating the image, so I might create my own Free Spirits signature image generator in time.

I am leaving our utiltiy up so that those lunatic ultra-distance competitors can have their own special additions.

Go back to the "remembering" page (still can't think of a catchy title) and you *should* see your times remembered.

Just change the one that you need to change, then click once to save them and again to make the image.

To be fair, the original page (http://www.c2ctc.com/make_image.php) now does this remembering trick too. I just left mine up for the deranged who do further than a full marathon.
