Row2Rio - anyone up for it?

Post by Recess »

Scottish Rowing are running a Row2Rio challenge:

http://www.scottish-rowing.org.uk/index ... 16/row2rio

Anyone fancy signing up to it? We all row enough meters - it's just about getting enough people together to go through the process of entering results.

I'm happy to look after as much of this as possible (mostly just by going through the meterboard and copying across distances).

I can't see the harm in joining in. If we add our collective metres over that period of time you'd think we'd exceed the distance required - IF - enough people agree to join up.

Well, that makes 2. I like how they break down the numbers - 5 people means 9K a day - 50 people mean 1K a day.

Can we backdate and include meters done since the 1st? Should be fairly easy if we get enough people. I'm doing a minimum of 25K/week right now (well except possibly this week - just got put on antibiotics).

Okay, I'm in. Especially if it means I just row as usual  But I wouldn't mind posting my distances to a thread, if it makes the bookkeeping easier.

I sure hope we can get more than 5 people...

I'd be interested (although I'm a 0% Scotsman :D ). How does this work?
Does everybody sign up individually? Or do we need a team and possibly some kind of team captain to set this up?

I don't think we all need to be Scottish - probably none of need to be actually - but if I take care of registration etc, at least there'll be a nod to that part of it.

The question is, how many people do we want to involve? Like I said, 50 people would mean we'd only have to row 1K a day. Which makes it a bit pointless for the amount of distance most of us clock up. 10 people would be 5K a day - which is probably more manageable, and gives a good + / - buffer for people who do more or less that that as their daily average.

Backdating is ok - and we've got 6 people (if all who've replied here are interested?) so far. So I suggest once we get to 10 - I'll register the team. Does that sound ok?

Does anyone have a PDF / Gif / JPG of the Free Spirits logo? They sent 'personalised' paperwork to fill out the meters etc - it'd be nice to have our wee Free Spirit on our page.

9!

Interestingly, I wear the Murray tartan - a nice green / navy number - due to Julie's family being the Murray clan. Sadly, they were sheep stealers. (Better than something else sheepy though!!!)

Ok - I'm PM him.

I am a bit confused as to what I am? I was born in England and my Dads mom was called ( Dimmery) Irish ....My mums side are called Murray(Scottish) and I lived in South Africa for 13 year and my work pass says UK/ZA on it because I am still dual national.

By the way John I will tell my Mum about the sheep stealing bit.  Maybe that is why I am 6 foot 3 and 17 and a half stone from all the sheep meat.
