Ah thanks Amanda. That 30 seconds is just a confidence gap... I have to attack it through repetition, plus sufficient motivation (that's where you came in) - rather than any brilliant pacing on my part.
As for the piece itself -- my PM3 is set to display split averages at the bottom. I think Dave Plumb taught me about that view? I hadn't used it prior, now I use it for every time trial.
For the Jan 14 PB row I set it up as 5 splits (1000 meters each). For the Jan 19 row, I honestly don't know why, but I set it to 3 splits. It's possible I got confused with my usual 15 minute time trial - which I do in three 5 minute segments. So... you're right... something worked, like subconsciously thinking I was only doing 15 mins worth of rowing

That's a bummer. But I get it (other priorities, other training, life, etc). I had to ask myself on Dec 31 - shall I pull that 750x8 interval pain again to try and catch Amanda, or shall I go enjoy New Year's Eve?
