I'm afraid you're correct North Essex is too far, those of us from the south, the economically developed bit (I gather pigs are still currency in the north) can't go that far. Us from Basildon are banned from going north of Chelmsford in case we lower the tone!

Xmas Bash...

Post by OrangeRider »

Good shout re: an Xmas drink. Can do any of the dates you mention. From a selfish point of view The Hamilton Hall is an ideal venue - two minutes walk from the office.

In all seriousness most parts of London are good, except North of the river (what's it like?), too far West and too far East.

Could one of those gods of the silicone chip please change the name of this thread?

It should be

XMAS DRINKS - 8TH DECEMBER - LONDON

I stand in due deference to your god like powers.

Erm, how did it get to be the 8th????

Didn't we have a nice vote going, and the 15th was winning?

Reason I ask is that it buggers up plans to go to the Irish IRC, and I don't want to upset big John Glynn!

Yes, 15th was winning - but people seem to be drifting towards the 8th in the thread.

We'll NEVER get a date everyone can make, thought Fridays seem popular - I think we should just pick one and go for it.

As far as I could see, 15th was popular. A few people mentioned the 8th, and then it was arbitrarily decided to be the 8th and the vote cancelled. What was the point of all that?

Reading back through the thread, I can't make head or tail of who wanted what now, other than there had seemed to be a general consensus to the 15th until half way through the last page, when it became the 8th suddenly.

Now it may be that it's just me who has a problem with the 8th, in which case fine - go ahead with it. It does still seem a bit unhelpful to put the drinks of an indoor rowing club two days before the last indoor race of the season before xmas (or at least the last one anyone might be going to, as no-one seems keen on the cost/timing of the Euro IRC this time round.)

I deleted the poll. I am putting a new one in now to sort out this 8th 15th confusion.

For the record, I said either.

But I can definitely NOT do the 8th (should have checked the diary).

And don't think I can do the 15th (Father in law's birthday)

How things change.

Any further advances on this subject.

Whatever happens, I will be out on the 15th celebrating the completion of the global million meter relay, and anyone and everyone are welcome to join me!

This thread seems to have died so I am "un-sticking" it. Did anything get decided?

P.S. Tamsin and I could be in the Hamilton Hall on this Friday (8th) 6:30 to 7:30 but then would need to rush off.

Might be best to leave it stuck and reinstate it by further discussion! Looked like the 15th was gonna win by a short head, but then everyone went quiet...

Can't really do the 8th as I'm in final preparation for the Irish IRC. If there's a load who can't do the 15th, why don't you all meet up then though. (I'd do both if I wasn't doing IIRC!)

CAN do the 15th, which coincides with the completion of the global million meter relay. Will be out celebrating that, probably around Liverpool Street as well, and would be delighted if anyone interested wants to join me.

Michelle is in for the 15th as well.

(Does this depend on the Red divers winning tomorrow?)

I can't do this Friday 8th (school concert) which is a shame.

So far then, me, Mike, JanetS, Michelle, Gooner.

Anybody else in London? Mr Big Dave K?

Venue from The Hamilton Hall :? , Dirty Dicks :) , Wodin's Shades 8) or a swanky wine bar  . Any preferences?

Avoid the Pitcher and Piano on a Friday night.
