Nonathlon 2016
Looks like nonathlon people have not set up for the new season yet. I will keep an eye out and set the team up as soon as the changeover takes place.
Many thanks to all those who took part in the 2015 season

Re: Nonathlon 2016
Thanks Stan and thanks for the update Gregor. I've now entered times for nine of the nonathlon distances - six of them taken from Saturday's HM, the other three from today's session.

Re: Nonathlon 2016
Thanks again Stan for updating this.
An interestiing (to me) observation. I've entered some scores based on 10k and 5ks I've done on the first few days of the season, plus my first CTC attempt.
I completed the 10k at 2.10.2 pace and pro-ratad this back to 6k, so I could enter a score for that. I would have expected that rowing 6k at 2.10.2 pace would give a much lower score than rowing the same pace for 10k, however the difference is only six points. This seems strange!

Re: Nonathlon 2016
Phil, what's even stranger is the fact that my 6k score is 7 points HIGHER than my 30 minutes score, even though both of them are taken from my pace over the first 10k of my recent HM. There is an anomaly there and I pointed this out several months ago to the guys that run nonathlon. They haven't responded, but I don't want to make a fuss about it, because the work they do is all done on a voluntary basis.nogsy1959 wrote:Thanks again Stan for updating this.

It's partly explained by the fact that 30 minutes is done much more frequently than 6k, but it's still an anomaly and, in my opinion, additional smoothing should be applied when setting nonathlon targets in order to remove such anomalies. But I guess that would take it further away from being based on actual world best times for the previous year, which is the basis for nonathlon.
By the way, the problem is exacerbated at present by the fact that they updated the targets for 30 minutes upwards last season, but never got round to updating the targets for the shorter distances. There was still an issue about comparative targets for 6k and 30 minutes before the update, but not as great a difference. I might try writing to them again at some stage, but I don't want to become a nuisance.

Re: Nonathlon 2016
Thanks Paul,that explains it!
It is definitely an anomaly, but as you say, the guys who run it do a great job on a voluntary basis, so we don't want to cause too much trouble!
I've just done a stand alone 30 minute piece that is (marginally) quicker than my 10K, so lets see what that gives! - the same I suspect!

Re: Nonathlon 2016
Interestingly, in my region 6k is a standard testing distance. Much more frequently done than 5k or 30min.

Re: Nonathlon 2016
I'm still in the process of doing a first attempt across the various nonathlon distances. Today was 30 minutes, where I was hoping for 8000m, but totally ran out of steam around the half way mark. I still managed to add 32 points for improvements in my 30 minutes, 6k and 5k scores. I've updated the table:

As far as I can tell, there are seven Free Spirits who have signed up for this year's nonathlon who have not yet been added to your list. Two of these are new members - 988012 (Forum name Lordofgreasby) and GuidonTheBee. The other five were all in last season's listing.
I've updated the table, with the 7 extra members shown in bold. I've also updated my score to reflect the 42 additional points I gained for today's 1k effort.
