Very impressive performance Dan. =D> =D> =D>

You're right about it being deceptively nasty. Who's idea was it to put everyone through this torture?

Realised I was only a few meters short of boat 1 so had another go today:

9:00.0 2452 1:50.1 28
9:00.0 2453 1:50.0 28
9:00.0 2432 1:51.0 28

27.00.0 7337 1:50.3 28

Could maybe have gone a little faster on the last rep but did not want to go out too fast and blow up so just did what was required to move up a boat :D Don't think it will be enough to stay there but happy none the less

Had my first bash at this over lunch. Well, I tried yesterday, but RowPro crashed after the first interval and it took me so long to get it back up and running I'd lost the will...

Anyway, an acceptable 7397, which isn't bad for a first bid. I will try again at least one more time, and hope to squeeze a little more out of it.

Oh, and sorry Felton, this seems to have displaced you out of Boat 1...

Finally, after more than a month with my erg in storage (along with all my belongings), and just in the nick of time for the challenge, I got my baby back!!

This was never going to be pretty. I jumped straight on and threw myself into the challenge. How bad could it be after all #-o

Pretty bad! I struggled through to 6662m and it took me an hour to stop feeling sick. But I took one for the team and we are one rower closer to getting the sixth boat afloat, with a new passenger aboard Free Spirits IV.

Its good to be back!

Managed an 80m improvement tonight. The plan was to hit the first one a bit harder and have some metres in the bank if it gets nasty later but managed to improve all three and nearly negative split them!

2333 (was 2301) - 1:55.7

2342 (was 2314) - 1:55.2

2342 (was 2322) - 1:55.2

Rounded down total of 7016m at 1:55.4. Heck, I was only 50m behind Odd, so I'm very happy with that

Figured I had better have a go as it was my idea....

9min...1:51.2...r20
9min...1:50.6...r21
9min...1:48.7...r23

29min...7353m...1:50.1...r21

Still can not rate above r23 before feeling a tightness in my hamstring...but shit happens.

Well done Jason. =D> =D> =D> I know it's not as fast as you were capable of when firing on all cylinders, but it's still a pretty good distance and a strong negative split.

I presume your comment at the end was a reference to the fact that you have pushed me out of boat 2 :?:

After 3 weeks of no rowing due to being unable to bend my left arm (bursitis of the elbow), I did a very slow ctc yesterday. 6068m, and a little bit of soreness in the elbow this morning, but at least I got a distance measured. That was looking very doubtful last week!

Had my 4th attempt at this today. Another slight improvement (37m), but feel I should be able to get closer to 1:50 pace. Might have one last attempt before I fly out to Portugal on Monday afternoon.

Splits were as follows:

Time Distance Pace Rating
09:00.0 2441 1:50.61 31
18:00.0 2432 1:51.02 30
27:00.0 2418 1:51.66 30

27:00.0 7291 1:51.10 30

Final attempt this month, set myself the goal of getting back into boat 1, if only briefly, so needed 7405m or 1:49.3 ave
Genuinely didn't know if I was capable of this so a journey into the unknown:

9:00.0 2471 1:49.2 29
9:00.0 2473 1:49.1 28
9:00.0 2474 1:49.1 28

27:00.0 7419 1:49.1 28

Thought I would really struggle on the last rep but actually felt pretty good and maybe even had some left in the tank, but that's me done! Last time I stayed in boat 1 for about 10 minutes so we'll see what happens...

Well done Felton, that's a nice improvement!!

I'm off for another attempt at lunch today... although I'm feeling nasty after going out to 'Rize' - the trampoline place in Govan at the weekend. Neck and shoulders in a lot of pain - probably whiplash! I don't think I'll catch you, but if I do, I apologise in advance...

3rd and final attempt today.
6238 @ 2:09.8 (2061, 2075, 2102)
Max heart rate was a massive 169 with a TE of 3.5
Happy with the improvement over attempts 1 and 2 (6068, 6148) :D . Long way to go get any semblance of fitness back. :(

This CTC was unfortunately very incompatible with my work and training schedule. I have been on vacation for two weeks and now I am in full prep for the Masters Worlds and last weekend we had OTW races. So with just a few hours left before closure and a training in the quad planned for today, I decided to go to the rowing club early and row a slow version of this challenge. It's a Free Spirits challenge after all!

To make it interesting as a warming up I tried to hit 2000m exactly for each interval, so I rowed 6000m in total:

Apologies for not rowing a hard effort.
