If I remember correctly, you can delete single workouts from the USB log with the Concept Utility.

Can you not manage the USB memory from the PM5? I know you can copy records, but can't remember if you can delete them.

No, not possible. Only transfer from internal memory to USB stick.

Hmmm. In that case I am going to have to upload it and then delete it from the logbook - hopefully before it gets through to the meterboard........which worked.

Well a day later and the same rogue log entry is back :twisted:

However, I just discovered you can delete USB log entries from the PM5. I've tried that and we'll see if it comes back again tomorrow. [-o<

Grr I think I just rowed a PB for the 5k. But I don't know as the entire workout hasn't recorded to either the USB or the PM5 memory :evil:

So I have not been able to use a USB memory stick since I got the darned PM5. All the ones that I had lying around simply don't register when I plug them in.

Does the monitor require a specific type of USB (USB2? USB3?) or maybe a particular format? I looked online and saw that the only requirement was format to FAT or FAT32, which I did. Still didn't work.

I couldn't get any existing stick to work. Bought a new basic one, 8GB about the smallest size available in the high street supermarket, and simply plugged it in to the PM5. It seems OK so far, when the PM5 doesn't corrupt it. I've taken to doing a backup every time I upload via the concept2 utility so I can then keep restoring and hopefully not loose too many workouts.

8GB is really overkill. The files in use, excluding the firmware updates (another story) are only a few MB in size.

Concept really didn't test this thing properly before they unleashed it on an unsuspecting market.

FWIW, I have no troubles with my PM5 - or any at the gym - when it comes to USB. The only issue I've ever faced is that it doesn't like all the ._ files that a Mac outs in there.

Would you like me to zip up my USB contents, then upload it for you to put on yours? That might be an interesting experiment...

For me… it's a horror trip. Problems/Issues on a daily base. Tried all what's possible to do as normal user… exchanged USB sticks (by C2), exchanged PM5 (by C2), used every single FW (from release versions to beta), reseted the PM5 (pressing a combination of buttons). The C2 Utility tells me every single time I put the USB stick into my MacBook, that my logbook is corrupted and needs to fixed.

Your screen photos looked like mine when I was having problems recently. After much frustration as previously reported, I have had stability for the past month after upgrading to both FW v.19 and C2 Utility v.6.97. It was also necessary to first reset the PM to its baseline status. Scott Hamilton was able to repair my corrupted files which I uploaded and he sent back in a zip file. Changing USB sticks did not make a difference and I am actually still using the original drive that came with the erg. There were some issues with some USB sticks that came with the first production PM5's ( I think they were rated 2GB ).

I would call or email Scott H directly as he was helpful to me. Dennis L

A new first for me. I am running the latest Concept2 Utility and latest firmware. After a workout today the PM5 told me the data had not ben written to the USB and I needed to copy the workout from PM5 memory....except it had been written when I checked. The weirdness continues.

Also, after a day of no errors about corrupt logbooks I now have them back every time I upload. This looks very much like testing in the field to me :evil:

About two weeks ago I updated the Concept Utility to 6.97 and the PM5 firmware to BETA 19.001. Since then I had no issues. =P~ =D> 8)

I was thinking just the same this morning. I haven't had any issues with software or hardware for a few weeks now. :fsbgrin: :fsbgrin: :fsbgrin:

Famous last words below :evil:

Every time I insert the USB in my PM5 I get a message saying "Low battery. USB will not function". The trouble is the batteries are only a few months old and show at 67% on the PM5 battery utility.

Has anyone else seen this :?: :?:

Yes, me. But already at 80% battery capacity. Buying a new pair of D cells helped.

Seems the backlightning, Bluetooth connection to my phone and the ANT+ connection to my watch chews up a lot of battery.

I thought the battery was only used when you weren't rowing.

Seems a bit odd to have to replace batteries when they are still 80% charged.

Under normal circumstances, a set of Alkaline D cell batteries should last in a PM3 or PM4 for about 350 hours of operational time, and about 200 hours of operational time in a PM5.

The beta software is no longer working for me:

v19.6 - lost a 5k row - didn't record to USB or PM5 - Concept 2 utility software detected corrupted something and wanted to rewrite
v19.6 - lost a 4810m CTC row - again didn't record to USB or PM5 - error 46-37
update prompted to v19.9. lost a 5x100k interval row.

If it wasn't for the Garmin heart belt that is incompatible I'd be going back to my trusty PM3 :(

I'm very sorry to hear that you these issues. This really sucks, when sessions are even not saved in tje internal memory.

Last week I suddenly had issues too. Same like yours.

I'm now logging every failure with concept. It's the only way that they might get to the root cause of the problems, although so far they claim to have been unable to reproduce my specific crashes.

That the beta's keep getting revised indicates they are working on something.

And another lost row. Rerow of a 12x7:30min 2:30rest workout which I bailed on after 5 intervals due to the heat. The USB stick is clearly being read as I can view the old workouts. It all just falls apart when it needs to write the data :( I hope Concept come up with some answers very very soon.

They are working on a new version of the ErgData app which will upload far more to the online logbook. I only know this because I have been asked to beta test the app too, but the combination of the fact that none of your rows will be logged in the current on-line logbook and the PM5 updates seem to be causing issues means I think I will politely decline. Not very public spirited of me, but this deos look like a bit of a nightmare.
