Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
I also had a go at this. Plan was to target 1:50 pace and see if I could pick up a few extra meters over the last couple of minutes to get close to 5500m. Went OK for the first eight minutes, but then I blew up. I think my legs were a bit tired after yesterday's 2k and the fact that I only got about five hours sleep last night probably didn't help. I struggled home with 5393m @ 1:51.26 pace.

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
First attempt today.
Its been another frustrating start to the month. I thought I had got over the lurgy, but it came back (or I caught another bug). However it does seem I have finally shaken it off. So a hard fought 4535 to start with. Can only get better from here on in!

Our super new LWT David Holmberg is seriously fast - 1:43 for 20 mins
We have a fighting chance of getting a boat into the medals this month if we have a lady who can handle low 2 minute splits for 20 mins. No disrespect to Clare Burrell and her 2:15 effort =D> - thank you for that

Great distance David =D> . I was already thinking I need to up my game with the new women's 2k world record that is now faster than my 2k, now I'm getting overtaken by a lighweight in the same club.

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
Paul, I was looking back through previous CTC threads and saw that you mentioned Anne Bourlioux persuading Margit Haarh Hansen to post some CTC efforts for Free Spirits (she posted 3 CTC scores last year). Just wondering if there was a way to give her a nudge as I think with our super fast new lightweight, she could propel FS1 to new heights(providing us heavyweights pull our fingers out as well).

Good idea. I've sent Anne a message on Facebook.thornmaster wrote:Paul, I was looking back through previous CTC threads and saw that you mentioned Anne Bourlioux persuading Margit Haarh Hansen to post some CTC efforts for Free Spirits (she posted 3 CTC scores last year). Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
I got an almost instant response from Anne, as follows:
"Margit Haahr Hansen is nursing a shoulder's injury unfortunately and is not rowing at the moment, can't wait to see her come back and kill it as soon as she is fit again."

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
So Dave casually dropped by and somehow managed to subliminally drop into the conversation the 20 minutes. And how he had done an Eddie Fletcher warm up. And that it wouldn't hurt or be taxing in any way whatsoever. Learn from my mistake people - don't listen to him - he's a salesman! It did hurt, and I did HD. But I also P OO'd too (picked oop again) and got to the end somehow. Twenty minutes? I'm sure there's some disturbance in the space time continuum when I row - it felt like several lifetimes. And I have a cough - so I did it right.

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
I am not sure if this is legitimate, but I have put in the distance covered in the first 20 minutes of my 6km trial of today, which I did in 22:19, 1:51.6 pace. Actually, I gave myself an interpolation penalty for the 500m interval where I had to interpolate. As I didn't know how fast I had rowed the first 1:26 of an 1:53 interval, I put in an average pace of 1:55 (2 seconds penalty) and worked out the meters from that (5375m or 1:51.6 pace).
I hope this is acceptable. If there is a storm of protest, I will change my score to 0m and rerow this one coming Saturday. I am pretty sure I will end up between Odd and Dave in Boat IV, but if you guys want you can make me do it again. Let me know.

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
Cant see any issues with this Sander - I did pretty much the same thing on Saturday with the Carol Mac memorial row. It becomes even less of an issue if you do it again on Saturday and improve your distance.

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
I always feel that a prorated time from a longer distance is fine (provided it's not a very short sprint). I don't think there's any need to apply a penalty - by my reckoning 5375m is spot on.

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty
I had another go at this today after a rest day yesterday. As with the previous attempt, plan was to keep the splits under 1:50 and see if I had enough left at the end to get close to 5500m. Went more or less according to plan this time, although I was pretty tired at the end and unable to do a really fast last, so I fell somewhat short of 5500m. Still happy enough with 5475m @ 1:49.6 pace, which was 82 meters more than my previous attempt.
Splits were as follows:
Total Split Pace Rating
4:00.0 1092 1:49.89 30

Had my second go today: 65m better than the first time, and jumped into boat V (sorry Plummy - I know now you're going to make me eat my words later ).
The HR of 198 at the end is a new high I have seen in the short time since monitoring my HR.
