It will be a pleasure if it works, otherwise, not so much. I've never had to worry about losing weight until recently. I'm learning how.

Not too much damage done by my ten days in Alvor. Still in the 'green' zone, so back to business next week.

Judging by the Meterboard, Ron, it looks as if you are aiming to be a Grade A student. :) Mind how you go with your back.

You've done well Paul - obviously managed to achieve a good balance between calorie intake and exercise. :)

My weight has remained stable after the ' excesses ' of hotel meals last week but then we did do a lot of walking ... Food wise the greatest pleasure was eating two perfectly boiled eggs each morning for breakfast. With soldiers, of course. :)

One evening, I ordered haddock and chips, which was dished up on a piece of wood - not the first time. I lamented to Richard, " Why can't they serve food on a plate? " :(

In yesterday's paper, was an article about the Twitter campaign, We Want Plates. :D Absolutely, =D> :D although I couldn't help laughing at some of the odd items that food s being served in or on: dog bowls, shovels, table-tennis bats, flat caps and a restaurant in the US that just chucks all your spaghetti on the table and gives you a fork.

Thanks Jill. I have to constantly remind myself that the goal isn't to go fast, but to keep at a relatively slow, steady pace; so far my back likes my new approach. I have to say that holding myself back isn't easy for me, even though I know that it is for the best in the long run.

Ron, as Mr Punch would say, " That's the way to do it :!: " although I'm willing to bet that your slow, steady pace is still a lot, lot quicker than my slow, steady pace. :fswink:

We say in this country as an encouragement to exercise our muscles, " Use it or lose it. " As your main goal at the moment is weight loss, then you might prefer, " Use it ( the erg ) and lose it. " :D

Paul, it would be very easy to say, " You are a disgrace :!: " but as you like singing, I thought that you might prefer this. It has to be sung to the tune of ' Oh. Mr Porter. '

Ron, despite what you might think, you've had another healthy weight loss this week. =D> :D
mardix wrote:I feel your difficulty, Paul. I lost a couple of days last week to bad behavior. Fall, get up, repeat.
With weight loss, there is never bad behaviour, ( even with Paul  )just days occasionally when we eat or drink more than intended. There's a huge amount of information out there about losing weight and I hope you've found something Ron, that suits your life style and personality. Whatever you have chosen, try not to set yourself unrealistic goals ( treats are allowed ) because psychologically, being unable sometimes to stick to them, can trigger feelings of self loathing and then things can spiral out of control. Losing weight isn't easy, so learn to forgive yourself when things don't always go to plan and be very proud of yourself when they do.

Time for another occasional self humiliation post

Jan 2014 18st 7lb approx
Apr 2014 17st 7lb approx
14/9/14 16st 13lb (107.5kg
01/10/14 16st 9lb (105.7kg)
01/03/15 17st 12lb (113kg)
01/04/15 17st 8.5lb (111.5kg) :?
01/06/15 17st 7lb (111kg)

I suppose it's creeping in the right direction, but I'm going to have to take this much more seriously if I'm ever to have a "normal" BMI.

Good going Paul, now you can start your break with a clean slate - it's not possible to go completely off the rails in 6 days.   If you do, I'm sure that we can assemble a ' Chorus of Disapproval ' as a suitable reception.

Have a relaxing time, rest your back ( which I hope is feeling better today ) and enjoy your niece's wedding. \:D/

Rob, your approaching this with a ' glass half empty ' attitude, instead of ' a glass half full ' . [-X  Repeating myself here, but if you aim to lose 7lbs at a time ( which is far less daunting than saying 3,4 or 5 stone ) then so far since the beginning of March you have lost 5lbs of your first 7lbs goal. =D> :D If you want serious, then that should help you arrive at each 7lb goal a little quicker.

I've lost another 1lb.

Take care everyone.

As I suspected might be the case, the chickens (or should that be the choriso?) really came home to roost this week. I had a great time in Spain, but ate and drank way too much and the only exercise I got was a bit of walking. I came home full of good intentions, but unfortunately the bad habits I picked up while I was away continued to haunt me. At least I'm back erging again, but food and drink over-consumption continued unabated. #-o

The net result is that I reached my highest weight this year. I have six days to go until Madchester and will try to be a bit more sensible this week so that I don't collapse when attempting the 5k.

Alan is right. :)

You seem to go through phases of either eating sensibly and watching your intake of wine/chocolate/crisps etc ( good phase :) =D> ) or not eating sensibly. First of all, about 6 or 7 years ago you weighed around 17st so to have kept between 91kg/86kg ever since has been a marvellous achievement. =D> Which weight are you most comfortable at now :?:

Final weigh in before heading off to Alvor this afternoon. Small improvement on my post Spain weight, but still in the amber zone. Probably likely to get worse over the next two weeks, but no point in not enjoying my holidays (provided I don't go completely bananas).

Time for another monthly post of self humiliation:

01/03/15 17st 12lb (113kg)
01/04/15 17st 8.5lb (111.5kg) :?
01/06/15 17st 7lb (111kg)
01/07/15 17st 5lb (110kg)

I blame the Madchester BBQ for this month's lack of progress

No worries Paul, on your return, if you have to face the music or should it be muesli, there's always Monty Python's ' Self Defence With Fruit ' .

Mr.Cullen :!: I'm shaking my rolling pin at you so much, that my stockings have fallen down.

It's a good job that Jason doesn't read this thread because you seem to be suggesting ... Jason's very deft hand with the BBQ produced delicious food which you ( and the rest of us ) couldn't resist eating ... =P~ =D>. ' Erg Oh :!: ' Jason was responsible for your folly.   Hope you're a fast runner Rob :?:

These are for Jason because I certainly can't run that fast these days.

Re: 2015 Weight Loss Thread

Just got my rowing machine in the beginning off Mars, and have logged over million meters since then. When I started i was 116 kilos and now I am 105 kilos. My goal for the summer is getting below 100 kilos but my end goal is 90 kilos end then I will take inventory

I started slowly but now I do 30 min in the morning and 10 km in the evening, I also commute on a bike and do some open water swimming in the afternoon, the cold water relaxes me. I used to eat to much even if I was active so now I have cut down on the calorie intake, I use my fitnesspal to keep track, to lose weight. On the weekends I tend to relax a little since I love good food, single malt and good beer, EvilTwin´s "Even more Jesus" why do have to be so good.

My motivation now is to be the top Scandinavian on the meterboard.

Been reading this thread to hear from similar minded pepole and decided to join in.
