Re: Indoor rowers league 2014/15, formerly Challenge Series
...and some of the challenges have changed:
a) an 8th event has been added, the 500 meters in April
b) the 2500m has been replaced with the 1 minute
c) Some events have been moved to better fit to training plans
September: 4 minutes
October: 1609m (one mile)
November: 6344m
December: 5000m
January: 1 minute
February: 2000m
March: 10.000m
April: 500m
Note: The challenges and schedule may change based on the participants majority's wish.
Think we could assemble 8 to 10 Free Spirits to form a team?
Of course, if that team wants to compete for the win, I'll graciously step aside.
EDIT: ugh new page, see the last post of the previous page for the complete story...

Rodger I am sure we could assemble a team-maybe we need to make this thread sticky so others can add their input ?
Should be a lot of fun

It certainly adds something.strider77 wrote:Rodger I am sure we could assemble a team-maybe we need to make this thread sticky so others can add their input ?

This already is a sticky, Alan, but I'm not sure that leads to a lot more views. I believe many people tend to look past those first stickied topics, because those usually are about forum rules and things like that.
I couldn't find the results of last season's IRL anymore and I only did one or two of the challenges myself, but from memory I think there were close to 8 Free Spirits then that did at least some of the challenges.

I intend to sign up for this and to complete the challenges this year and would love to contribute to a team effort. How does it work though? Is the team picked at the beginning for the whole year or is it just the fastest eight from each monthly challenge?

Re: Indoor rowers league 2014/15, formerly Challenge Series
I enjoyed last year's season (especially winning 100 euros at the end of it!). I like the idea of team challenges too - I hope they have a similar model to CTC where multiple teams can be entered.
I wonder if they'll have flexible teams though, or demand the same 8 row each month...

As I understand it, you can have 10 in a team but only the 8 best scores count for the team. And all those individual scores are all relative to the world records in that class (sex - age- weight). There are no limitations on the composition of the team or the number of teams.

I'd be interested in participating in a Free Spirits team in this league. Do we have 10 people who would like to take part? If so, please copy this email and add your name to the list.

I have just asked Seb if he can add a Freespirit boat for 8 on the list and I am in the boat for a bit of fun.

I'm up for a go not fit enough to be one of the scoring 8 at the moment but its a good incentive and what an achievement if I make it into the boat

Great. I think it's based on a team of 10, with the best 8 to count each month. So we have one more vacancy.Den-J wrote:I'm up for a go not fit enough to be one of the scoring 8 at the moment but its a good incentive and what an achievement if I make it into the boat

Re: Indoor rowers league 2014/15, formerly Challenge Series
Had a bash at this today, 1207. Which isn't too bad. Two thoughts came out of it.
1) I'll do it again on a day I haven't cycled 12 miles to work first...
2) It didn't feel awful, so I could probably push more anyway. But more importantly, I probably had another 800m at that pace in me, so might be getting back to speed for the 2k (at last!)

Had a go at this after chest day this morning. Was running out of time so 4min seemed a good option. Not been over r23-24 for about 6-8 months so pretty pleased with getting a r26 average for this and I will have another go at this later in the month.

Re: Indoor rowers league 2014/15, formerly Challenge Series
I put in an entry for this today, but it was done about 20 minutes after I did the CTC, so relatively slow at 1138m. However, my adjusted score for the team competition is 1309m, which is second only to Dan, whose stunning 1260m gives an adjusted score of 1335m. All ten places on the Free Spirits team are now taken, but John Steventon is yet to register for the team competition, so is not appearing on the team competition listing. As John's adjusted score is 1370m, he will leap to the top of the team ranking when he registers.
Once this happens and we get an eight participant, we should move up to second place in this month's ranking.

Crikey! I didn't realise I had to do anything for the team entry!! I'm on it...
Done. Couldn't see any change in the results. Maybe it takes a while for them to refresh. Hoping to have another go at this over the next couple of days, but I'm chasing off a chest infection (again! Kids in nursery...) this week.

It's been updated now. We're in third place with seven scores entered. They seem to allocate 802m for empty seats, so another entry will move us up to second.Paul Victory wrote:Strange one.
