Season 2015
Season 2015 is ahead and time is running.
I thought I will write down my plans as commitment and too see how it works.
I don't want to bother you with every detail, the main milestones are:
1. Season meters 2,5 Mio 200k+ a month
2. Nonathalon score 7500 (7900 changed end of April)
3. Marathon in September aiming a 3:15h, hopefully is not to ambitious
4. HM sub 1:30h (but not my first one in the next 2 weeks )
5. 2000m 7:20
5000m 19:40
6000m 24:00
10000m 40:40
30min 7500m
60min 14500m
May some of the targets ambitious, I did a good progress over the first 4 month and would like to keep it, that's why I need some self motivation. Targets are of course latest end of the season, April 2015
Suggestions appreciated.
Cheers
Markus

Re: Season 2015
I think the main target for me this season is to keep losing weight, apart from that I'd say my rowing targets are:
1. 7500+ Nonathlon points. Never had this total before but last season I was pretty close.
2. HM PB. Hopefully in under 2:00/500m splits. If I can do it for an hour, I hopefully I can do it for 1h 25mins(?)
3. 2km in under 7 mins. 7:06.7 is close but not close enough.
4. Improve as many of my PBs as I can.

Focus on +5k "training", and hopefully get some PBs from 6k to FM...

Re: Season 2015
Hi all
This will be my first full season so not sure if i am stretching myself but we will see:
1. Complete a Full Marathon
2. Get in Top 50 of the meterboard
3. Compete in at least one 'live' event
4. Reach at least 1 million metres for the season
5. Reach at least 2 million lifetime metres (currently 800k)
6. Achieve a PB at every nonathalon distance
7. Sub 7 for 2k
Sitting here now number 7 seems the furthest away but i feel that it should be achievable.

So, what are everyone else's aims for the new season?

Re: Season 2015
I posted the following on 31 December 2013.
My goals for 2014 are as follows:
1. Build on the momentum gained from rowing every day in December.
2. Stay injury free.
3. Get my weight below 100kg by year end.
4. Get my nonathlon score above 8000 points for the current season.
5. Score 900 points or more over each nonathlon distance next season (by end December).
6. Take part in at least one live race during the year.
Paul V
As I have now achieved 1, 3, 4 and 5 (and am probably in danger of falling foul of objective 2 if I don't ease back a bit ), I need to re-assess my objectives.
For the nonathlon, my new objective is to beat my all time best total of 8676 points from 2012 season. I think this should be achievable if I can stay injury free, but it may take me the rest of the season to get there. Ideally, I would like to beat my 2012 nonathlon scores over every distance, but some of my 2012 times look very challenging.
I would also like to set at least one PB this season. My best bet is probably the marathon, where my PB was slower than it should have been due to the fact that I lost over a minute stopping to re-fuel with about 8k to go. My FM last Monday was only 44.3 seconds slower than my PB so I only need to improve my pace by just over 0.5 seconds per 500m. Easier said than done, I know, and I don't really fancy doing another FM for a couple of months, but when I do, it will be a full out assault on my PB.
Objective 6 remains in place, but I'm now feeling more confident of being able to put in a competitive time and will definitely be taking part in the IIRC (injuries and other circumstances permitting) and will also try to get over to the UK for a competition so that I can meet a few of my fellow Free Spirits again.

Re: Season 2015
I've had some goals in the past, but I have no intention of saying something like breaking old PB's. Maybe I will be able to break some SB's from 2009 till now.
Main goal is to keep up my present work on the machine.
Row minimum 30 Km a week.
Try and fill out the Nonathlon-schedule.

Re: Season 2015
My goals are pretty modest at this point:
Fill out the nonathlon (the full marathon is pretty daunting).
Keep up a minimum average 40,000 meters per week, which would put me over 2 million for the season.

Re: Season 2015
My goals are... simple.
PB on every distance
1000,000m +
Sub 6:30 for a 2K - hopefully 6:20 or better
Compete in an event (hopefully Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships if they ever announce a date)
Do all distances in Nonathlon (no chickening out of the FM this year!)
Not lose to Paul on this year's nonathlon (grrrrrrr)
No more stupid injuries or viruses.
Simple, huh?

Re: Season 2015
I've no specific "big" goals this year (but once an idea plants itself, who knows what might happen). General thoughts are:
8200+ points on the Nonathlon (which is right at the top of my previous bests) including trying to get above 900 points on 5~6 events
1 x marathon minimum (preferably sub 3:05)
At least 2,500,000 metres
Attend at least 2 races as a competitor (I've attended one already but didn't race as it was only a week after my million metre week)
Try and get my technique sorted out better.
At least one British/World Record attempt before the end of this calendar year
I may think of some other stuff....

I hope the goal I've highlighted is not going to be all that simple. Then again, I guess I can't rely on you dropping a TV on your foot just before the end of the season.

Re: Season 2015
It's never a good idea to post late on a Saturday night after a few glasses of wine, but nevertheless I would like to nominate a few round targets for the remainder of this season.
2k - 7 minutes
5k -18 minutes
6k - 22 minutes
30 minutes - 8k
10k - 38 minutes
The other distances don't lend themselves that readily to round targets (not for me at any rate), although I would include a sub 3 hour marathon if I had not already done one. I was tempted to include a sub 1:30 500m, but that would probably be a bridge too far.
I think the sub 18 5k may prove to be the most challenging, but my aim is to beat all five by the end of this season. I'll probably regret this post when I log on tomorrow.

It's so amazing reading your guys' goals. You are all an inspiration. At first read, it feels like I can't relate to your goals, but as I keep reading it gets me to thinking. I have goals too, albeit a little different in style…….
•complete the Beginner Pete Plan (24 weeks)
•row the entire season
•complete as many Nonathlon distances as possible relative to my experience
•minimum of 3 workouts/week; move to 4/week within the season
*be in the top 100 of the meter board (maybe not realistic?)
•participate in as many CTC's relative to my experience
•participate in Dog Days of Summer, Fall Team Challenge, Skeleton Crew, Holiday Challenge
•compete in the regional indoor meet in Feb.
Feedback welcome (cuz I'm so new)

Great targets Kellie and pretty much spot on for someone who's started recently. It will be interesting to see what targets you set in 11 months tine when you have another season under your belt.cowboygrrl wrote:Congrats Paul!Paul Victory wrote:I managed to knock off another of my targets today with a 37:57.2 10k. Re: Season 2015
With only 3 weeks to go to the end of the season, I thought I'd resurrect this thread to remind everyone of what their targets were at the beginning of the season.
I've actually managed to meet most of my targets (including not one, but two PBs and a sub 1:30 500m). But there are two I have yet to achieve - sub 18 5k and sub 22 6k. I always figured that the 5k would be the most challenging of these and it may be a bridge too far, but I'm going to have a crack at the 6k first, because if I can't get under 22 minutes for 6k, there's no way I'll manage sub 18 for 5k. So that's my erging priorities set for the next three weeks.
How about the rest of you? Are you happy with how the season has gone or are you looking forward to putting this season behind and starting afresh on May 1st?
Paul V

Good luck with that Paul, I was pretty happy breaking 23 mins for 6K
I did not set any goals this season which was maybe a good thing as I managed to beat all of last season's times/distances except 500m and 1k so those will be the two I am working on for the next 2-3 weeks

Re: Season 2015/2016
Well, I was new to erging this year, so I'll only get four months before May, but I'm happy with my progress. Going for 85th on the Meterboard today, did a half-marathon, and will have a good shot at completing 1M meters by the end of the month. It's helped that it's been cold, rainy, and miserable this spring. I'd started the year with some idea of ranking at all the distances over on the Concept2 website, but then found joy in building my aerobic base and accumulating kilometers. Haven't done intervals since February--hope that's OK, but rowing for speed isn't ever going to be my claim to fame, and I spend most of my time at 2:35/500m pace.
I feel great thanks to getting and using a C2! Most of my chronic physical complaints (shoulder, back, and knee pain) have eased, my stress levels are down, and I'm finally getting value from my Netflix queue. Overall, I feel more physically competent and balanced than I have in a long time. My thanks to the Free Spirits for the encouragement, and particularly to Thomas W-P for his work on the site. Most recent accomplishment is making a donation to the Website Hosting fund after I finally located the link (About > Donations).

I am looking forward very much to next season. As some of you will know from previous posts that I have had a washout season as far as times are concerned due to a nasty chest/back injury. A great Sports Physio and an Osteopath managed to sort me out but told me that an inguinal hernia that I had for 5 years was unbalancing the rest of my muscle groups. I've just had the op and am sitting at home raring to get back to my rowing. So my ambitions for next season are to be able to approach or even beat my PB's for the previous season, especially my HM time. Also to complete a Marathon (the training for which was the cause of my injury). So next season 'Bring it on!!!!
