Wow, that's some improvement, John, over an already impressive result.
Looking at your PB box, you did this under 1k PB pace then?
I'm planning to have another go tomorrow, I liked this challenge. Too bad a promotion to a higher boat looks out of the question.

Yeah, faster than my 1k. Not surprising though, I did it back in January and have dropped the Christmas sludge and trained a lot since then. Going to have another bash at 1k on Sunday I think.
Good luck tomorrow!!

Tweaked my back on the first attempt last weekend so this was an easy flat paced row just to set a time and float another boat without risking another strain.

Good to see you back on your pony Thomas =D>
Great effort John-you are rowing really well mate =D>
Well done Rich especially coming back after your back injury =D>
I managed to get around to it last night, substituted it for my called for 4 x 1ks session.
I must confess I was aiming at my good friend Paul V's times but alas it was not to be, he beat me by a full 14m
3588-13:00-1:48.7-29
1106-1:48.4-29

545-1:50.0-29-This is where I lacked resolve
281-1:46.7-31
828-1:48.6-29
3' reps exactly the same which surprised me.

I was thinking of having another go at the CTC today, but I'm not sure I want to put myself through the pain of a third set of intervals in four days. if you had managed another 15m, I would have had no choice.

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
I found myself unable to resist the challenge of having another go. I went out quite hard in the first interval and struggled in the second interval. I then decided not to go all out in the third and fourth intervals as I was afraid this would cause me to blow up in the final interval.Paul Victory wrote:I was thinking of having another go at the CTC today, but I'm not sure I want to put myself through the pain of a third set of intervals in four days.
Overall, I managed a 68m improvement, which moved me up from seat three to seat one in boat III, but only moved the boat up one position. Another 20m and I would have made FSII (as things currently stand).
Anyway, I think was pretty much my limit. It's consistent my my recent PP speed pyramid when you allow for the shorter rest periods. And I improved my SB for 4 minutes by 22m.
Splits were as follows:

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
Great effort by Free Spirits this month in a very difficult challenge. 7 people posted new times in the last 24 hours and we now have 8 boats floated and nobody sitting on the shore! Well done, everyone.

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
Might have to maroon some people on the shore as I have asked for my distance to be removed from CTC board. I was was really tired as I had worked a night shift thursday and I missed off the standing starts for each interval when I noted down the intervals before leaving for the gym.
Wasn't expecting much as it's been a hectic month with very little training. I don't do many timed intervals so I managed to mess up the first one by stopping with about 5 secs to go thinking momentum, which resulted in and extra 0.3 sec added to my average. As the intervals got shorter the rests felt like they were getting shorter more rapidly. Really struggled to maintain my planned pace for last interval.
Dissapointed that I messed up the first interval (probably cost 20-30m) and that I didn't read the instructions properly. Was hoping to complete all CTCs this year and challenge Eric at the top of the Free Spirits leader board.

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
Hi Andy,
I don't think they will remove you from the board. I have seen earlier discussions on that topic and it seems the only thing you could do, if you feel your entry was not valid, is change your distance to the lowest possible (1).
Good side efect is that noone gets marooned on shore that way. As for the FS leaderboard, you'll still get 100 points for being on the list (or more if you make it into the last FS boat). Which is quite right, I think, you did participate after all.
My own new effort yesterday was not a success. Going into the last 3' , I was only 7m ahead of my previous score. Then, halfway the last interval, my legs just went and I saw the pace go from 1:48 to 1:54 very quickly and I knew it was all over and HD-ed.

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
Andy, I think a fairer thing to do would be to adjust your score to allow for the rolling starts. 5 meters per rolling start would seem fair and would reduce your total distance from 3932 to 3912 meters. If you want to err on the side of caution, you could knock off 10 meters per rolling start, but I think that would be over egging it.

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
Well done for those late attempts, Andy & Rodger =D> =D>
Very big confusion on the ctc thread on UK C2 Forum... First there was a link to RowPro Forum where there was still a discussion going on whether or not to ban rolling starts. Then there was a change of the name of the title somewhere along the way. And then finally there was the "With static starts on each rep."-line there was added to end of the reps paragraph, I think we are more used to the rules being pointed out in a new paragraph...
Must admit I did my first attempt with rolling starts (on Feb 1), but my first attempt wasn´t that "serious", so when I discovered the line with static starts I didn´t ask for it to be removed, but did a static start attempt on Feb 2.
Anyways, it´s up to the ctc to remove your attempt, Andy, but personally I think it should count...

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
I looked at the CTC page and it has already gone onto March challenge so I can't ammend my score to 1. I messaged Dougie to see if he could remove my distance. He seemed happy to let it stand as the rules were not hard and fast. Maybe I should do it again tomorrow and see if I can match or better my distance. Pretty sure I would as I messed up the firstinterval at the end.

Re: February CTC - RowPro Rules Rugby Test
Maybe you should do the March challenge with static starts by way of atonement.
