Donate Money to a great cause and make Mike suffer too!

Post by Mike Channin »

Next Saturday (28th October) is Paul Sims Charity Marathon Day.

Here's the deal - Paul's total currently stands at 801 GBP.

IF you guys can get it over 1000 GBP by the day of the marathons, I'll do a 50k rather than just(!) a marathon. That's an extra 7,805m of pain after completing the full marathon distance, and I'll do it continuously too (only stopping for drinks, and maybe to put plasters on various parts of my anatomy...)

Here's Paul's link to just giving:
http://www.justgiving.com/pasims

Please visit, please donate, and then sit back and think how you've made me suffer! Can't say fairer than that.

(Paul, if you can, can you amend the target up to 1,000 GBP so people can see how much left before I suffer even more)

Full details of the event on this thread:

Also worthy of mention - at least two more Free Spirits will be joining us in 'spirit' and rowing FMs at the same time too. The mad fools are:

Plummy and Gouldilocks

Any more volunteers for the madness, please post on Paul's thread.

60k???? You .... kind .... person, you...

How early would I have to start then???

On a serious note, assuming I do end up doing the 50k, presumably I'd need to start at 9:30 if you lot are starting at 10?

Of course, if you all do 50k, then I could do 60k....

I was assuming you start at 10:00, we start at 10:30 - finish between 13:30 and 14:00 - possibly in the Reading Infirmary.....

I see Bob Sandhu has donated a great 50 GBP. Great stuff, Bob.

Looks like I'm gonna be doing that 50k after all then...

Just want to wish all rowing the marathon on Saturday all the very best and hope it goes well for you all. All in a very good cause.

Mike - have just noiticed that the donations now top £1,000 - looks like it could be a longer row for you now - all the best.

Er, what excellent, um, news. Can't wait.

Many many thanks for all of you who are supporting us on this. I shall endeavour to make sure there are photos of the suffering...

Good luck with the 50k Mike. I will be there to make sure you are suffering. I am looking forward to the marathon but feeling slightly nervous as well. For some reason I am not in the slightest bit tempted to extend my marathon to 50k, although I think I will do a 50k at some stage this season - just to post a time for the extreme league. Looking forward to meeting you.
Best of luck to all marathoners and well done to those who have already done it - especially Tricia who seems to have done 2 already on consecutive days.

edited after posting: correction Tricia has done 3 marathons on 3 days - incredible rowing Tricia.
