September CTC: 1000m static start
DLC Gidea Park has made their choice for September´s ctc:
"The CTC for September is a simple, unrestricted, static start 1000m."
Not so nice...

Fits in with the challenge currently at the gym I attend. Obviously will be looking to get under 3:34.9 and maybe close to 3:30 by the end of the month.

And glad to see it fits perfectly with your gym´s challenge, Stan
And probably a good occasion to get an SB or even a PB for many people (No PB for me, I can guarantee that much... )

Just missed my gym challenge which is 1k in August.
So if I do this on 31st August but don't log it until 1st September, does that count?

Very promising start, Mikkel =D> =D> And on top of that - done at Mat-o´clock I am quite sure that we haven´t heard the last from you this month...
And made a nice target for me - although I was aiming more at a sub 3:10 - and kept this even when I was struggling a bit in the middle sections:
1000m 3:09.4 1:34.7 36
0200m 37.7 1:34.2 38
0400m 37.8 1:34.5 36
0600m 38.3 1:35.7 34
0800m 38.3 1:35.7 36
1000m 37.4 1:33.5 39
Should be more to come this month - though I have the feeling that it´s not going to be easy...

Re: September CTC: 1000m static start
Great start Mikkel and Eric.
I haven't done any speed work lately, but the chance to spend some time (even if it's only an hour or two) in FS1 with two such speedy team mates was impossible to resist, so I had a go at it. My only previous 1k this season was 3:53, but I figured I could get under 3:50 and maybe even 3:45.
I actually found myself on 3:40 pace at half way, but I was afraid to keep pushing in case I'd blow up. so I eased off a bit and managed to do a kind of sprint for the lass 50m to finish in 3:42.1. I figure I should be able to get under 3@40, but my PB of 3:13.8 from two years ago seems a dim and distant memory.

Re: September CTC: 1000m static start
As per usual after a couple of half decent results, I think I'm invincible and then reality bites back. Decided that after last week's 4 x 1k with a good last rep, maybe an easier run up to the last rep would leave more in the tank so I made up an uphill pyramid (with NO intentions of doing the downhill bit)
15 mins EF warm up
250m - 51.8 ( 1:43.6 - nothing silly)
500m - 1:45.8 (hmm - felt harder than it should have)
750m - 2:43.6 (1:49.0 pace - blew up half way, paddled for 200 to save something for the 1k - which was the whole point of the set)
1000m - 3:32.1 (1:46.1 pace - 0.7s off matching my SB )
From this I think a much shorter w/u after the EF warm up (maybe just a 250) and just go b*ll"cks out from the gun might get me a new SB. It's certainly in touching distance

Re: September CTC: 1000m static start
Just had a go at this, set 3:43.0 at lightweight. I was going to post that I was the fastest lightweight in the team! Only to see that minutes earlier Plummy had beaten me into the ground
There's perhaps a few seconds in there, as I went off a bit too fast and had to ease off in the middle even to just make the end. I'll have another go before the end of the month. I'll also try to persuade Mrs Tee to have a go as it's nice and short and straightforward.

Re: September CTC: 1000m static start
Does a beginner lady help at all . Couldnt walk up the stairs at work this morning due to being sore from TaeKwon Do training last night but felt OK by the time I got home. Not well enough to do the 8000m the beginner PP requested for today but I thought this sounded OK. No great shakes on the time I'm afraid but since I haven't done a 1000m yet it counts as a PB . Of to the other end of the globe next week (that would be the top end many free spirits seem to live on) so this is the best 1000m I can do this month.
Maybe I didn't get it but I tried to add myself to the CTC new rower bit but it didnt like it. Do I need to do / join a different forum first? I might need some hand holding to get the time entered in the CTC properly.
