Perfect! My OTW season will be over in 2 weeks and I was thinking it would be good to focus on 5k for a while so this is good timing!

Re: May CTC: 5555m
There's already 4 complete boats floated for other teams but we have a start with 4 FS'rs awaiting a lady to join then in FS1.
I managed a respectable 21:15.3 ( 1:54.8 ave.) which, given my all time 6k PB was at 1:53.1 (back in 2007) isn't too shabby for a first effort, especially as I had to back off a bit for 1000m or so.

I'm going to give this a go this weekend. I'm back on the water so I'm not erging quite as much lately.

Hopped into FS Boat 1 until other ladies arrive... we currently top the leaderboard as well, which is fun. This and my unexpected leap up 160+ positions on the Meterboard have made for an exciting new season! Happy new year!

Re: May CTC: 5555m
I needed a nice middle distance workout today, so I gave it a go. I thought I could hold a 1:50 pace, but I was wrong, more like 1:52 today. Maybe it was the beer I had with lunch?
20:50.3. Right now that puts me in boat 2.
I think I'll give this one another go next week.

Strider: I did the CTC and then another rep as a replacement for a 2x6K L3 workout. Worked out pretty well. My second rep was a lot slower, but it was a hella workout.

Re: May CTC: 5555m
At least you have set a marker and have helped floating a boat Stan. II have no doubt that your next attempt will be better
Had a go at this myself yesterday which I'm also not too happy about. But given my recent lack of hard distance rows I couldn't have expected more:
1111m / 1:57.3 / 28spm / 163EHR
2222m / 2:00.0 / 28spm / 170EHR
3333m / 1:58.7 / 28spm / 177EHR
4444m / 1:58.0 / 29spm / 183EHR
5555m / 1:56.6 / 29spm / 189EHR
Total: 21:53.0_____pace: 1:58.1
Start was a bit too ambitious obviously so I cut it back a bit in the second sector, but was able to speed up again from there. Hopefully with some decent training and a better pacing I will shave off some seconds in my next attempt.

Re: May CTC: 5555m
Well done Greg, Stan and Peter
First attempt yesterday in the gym after 10 mins warm up on the Treadmill for a change rather than an erg warm-up.
21:19.2 5555 27 01:55.1
19:12.2 5000 27 01:55.2
02:07.0 5555 27 01:54.4
Was targetting 1:54 to try to get under 19 mins for 5k then hang on, alas it was not to be
Reasonably happy with it, will have another go after a few weeks more on the Wolverine Plan, first week only just completed

Re: May CTC: 5555m
Second attempt already on this month’s CTC ! The first go was mostly for getting started after a winter with less rowing and a period with more xc-skiing. With ave 1.49.5 the first time, the goal was to get under 20 mins and 1.47.9 ave. And I hope to do 1 or 2 more attempts as TT’s. Yesterday evening, on the terrace with fresh air , I went for a negative split.
5555m – 19.57.2 – 1.47.8 ave spm 26
1000m - 1.48.3 – spm 27 - a bit faster than planned the first minute.
2000m - 1.48.7 - spm 26
3000m - 1.48.5 - spm 26
4000m - 1.48.3 – spm 26
5000m - 1.46.9 - spm 26
555m - 1.44.0 - spm 29
So very happy with that. Some more to come, and hopefully able to cut off another 1 sec average next time.
Well done everyone so far. Cathrine will have a go later in the month. Not room for her in FS1 anymore with the fabulous Rachel Harris aboard!
Cathrine and I finished the season skiing by taking part in Svalbard ski-marathon 2 weeks ago. They fly a helicopter to check that the course is free from polar-bears, and they have guards on scooters with rifles alongside the track just in case! We had a great time, and went for an 8 hour scooter trip the last day seeing some beautiful landscapes. And our guide was 25 years old and from Manchester UK
http://www.trollheimsporten.no/lasse-ro ... 37312.html
Click on one of the pictures here, and see some taken from the same trip as we had, both skiing and travelling with scooter. (you will not find us in the pictures)
But now back for some serious erging!

We need a collective 5s improvement to bump us back into first and I think Jason probably has that in his locker alone

Incredibly fast as always Odd, very well done! =D> And thanks for sharing those pictures of your skiing adventure. I could even understand (or I thought I did) some of the norwegian words. Are the norwegian and german language of similar origin?
