Re: May CTC: 5555m
Witnessed a superb effort from Laura Fairbairn this evening as she knocked about 40 seconds off her previous time - well done Laura.
I will definitely be having another couple of attempts at this before months end. It would be nice to be back to around 2 min splits for this but that may be a trifle ambitious. Starting to feel some enthusiasm returning though, which is definitely a good thing.

Re: May CTC: 5555m
I haven't been competitively erging for a month or so due to preparing for and completing a charity run so just been using the erg for warm ups but I'm back now! My effort for the team was
5555m - 22:58.9 - 2:04.1 - 23spm
Very pleased with that as my 5k best is at 2:03.6
Also well done to everyone so far!! =D>
Cheers!

Re: May CTC: 5555m
Thanks but it's not a PB.
I Meant to say my current 5k best averaged at 2:03.6/500m last year so I was pretty pleased to get very near that rate with the 5555m. As I only started rowing last year I'm hoping to maybe beat a few PB's this year! [-o<

Oops. Didn't read closely enough!
But surely, 2:04.1 is fantastically close to your PB of 2:03.6? =D> =D> =D>
That PB will definitely fall this year if you keep at it! Very well done!

Re: May CTC: 5555m
I had another go this evening and managed an 8 second improvement to 22:44.7 - still about 3 secs per 500 away from where I want to be, but hey its an improvement and the mojo is slowly coming back.

Who? Each individual can add a name, and from there on enter results on the ctc leaderboard.Richard Thomas wrote: Question to the forum please: How & who adds the individuals efforts to the CTC leaderboard? I'm new to this!
How? Choose the "Add or Update a person" menu on the ctc site: http://www.c2ctc.com/person.php
Enter a name, you are free to choose which, as long as it´s not already in use... Type a password twice...
Then select a team, weight category and gender. Not that difficult (I seem to remember )...
Entering results for Free Spirits are very welcome helps floating more boats and in the Team Leaderboard

It's telling you that when you try to "Add/Update an Entry" [drop-down boxes where the most recent times show up]? Or when you try to "Add or Update a Person" ?Richard Thomas wrote:Thanks but tried that and it's telling me 'password incorrect' ?

It's telling me that when I try to add a person in the red link below the banner & also is not accepting anything in the drop-down boxes?

Re: May CTC: 5555m
It looks like this CTC is pretty popular. Great efforts by all.
I can't wait to see what happens when Jason goes free rate!
I made my second attempt this morning with good results.
Attempt #1: 20:50.3 (1:52.5)
Attempt #2: 20:30.8 (1:50.9)
I was pretty wrecked at the end, so I'm not sure if I can do much better, but I might be able to give it another go next weekend.

Sounds like it might be two problems.
Drop-down Not Accepting Anything
Do you mean...
1. When you click on the arrow next to the box nothing happens? (The list doesn't expand?)
2. The list expands, but you cannot scroll through the choices?
3. The list expands and you can scroll, but when you select an item it doesn't change? (The default value is still shown?)
4. Something else?
Password Incorrect
I tried to add you as a new user, Richard Thomas2 (I might have made things worse), and I kept getting the same error as you.
Then I realized that the two password boxes are NOT password and confirm password... they are password and set new password.
You would only use both password boxes when you already have an account set up and you are trying to change your existing password. You would then enter your current password and your desired new password.
Once I realized this, I was able to create Richard Thomas - test as a user. I was also able to change the password. But I cannot do anything with the Richard Thomas2 user. It is almost as if the user were created without a password and is now is limbo - nothing can be changed. (Or else I forgot what the password was. )
Please try this:
1. Go to the main page and try to enter your time, using the user name and password that you think you created. (Richard Thomas is currently listed as a user.)
2. If none of the drop-downs are working, try a different web browser or a different computer.
3. If the drop-downs seem to be working, but it is not accepting your password, try to create a new user... this time only entering a value for password, not for set new password.
4. If none of this works let me know; I can create a user name for you and send you the password as a PM.
Hope this works,
zoot

Re: May CTC: 5555m
Do the CTC rules allow you to enter a prorated time from a longer distance? I covered 5651m in the first 24 minutes of my 30 minutes relay row today, which would give me 23:35.5 for 5555m.

Yes, Zoot is right, Set New Password is a new password, different from the old one, Richard.

Nice 2nd effort Greg!
Doubt if I'll catch that when I eventually get around to it.

Thank you Zoot. All sorted now.
I wasn't putting in a new password so can only assume it was the browser I was using. Worked first time with a different browser.
Thanks for your help

I often use Firefox, locked down tight - no scripting, no advertising. But things often don't work right. So I keep Chrome handy with no restrictions. Glad it worked out!Richard Thomas wrote:Thank you Zoot. All sorted now.

On the basis that my aim is to beat my gym buddy and fellow free spirit Stan by the smallest possible margin each month in the CTC, I'm delighted to report a 22:38.4 (2:02.3 pace) !
Really liked this one, hoping you're not going to make me do it again Stan!

Re: May CTC: 5555m
Don't know what the rules say, Paul, but that's what I did.Paul Victory wrote:I'll take that as a 'no' then?Paul Victory wrote:Do the CTC rules allow you to enter a prorated time from a longer distance? I covered 5651m in the first 24 minutes of my 30 minutes relay row today, which would give me 23:35.5 for 5555m.
I used the first 5555 of a 6k (actually, the second of a 2x6k) to help get a boat floated. But now that I think about it, a better way would be to set the PM4/PM3 with a split of 5555 or as the first interval. That way, the whole question of averaging intervals, some with a rolling start and some without, is avoided.
That's what I'll do this weekend.
But with such a long interval, I can't see that it matters much (roughly 23 minutes for the first interval and 23 seconds for the second?). [Maybe I'd worry about it more if I weren't in 202nd place. ]
That's just my take on it. Obviously, others might disagree.
And, as I said, I don't know what the official CTC rules state.
Cheers,
