But for the reference: ctc from January 2011 was my best shot as I remember it: 674m in 2 minutes giving a 1:29.0 average per 500m... I´m trying to reach my own goals not goals set by others. And right now I´m doing about 1 erging session per week, and I am not planning to "waste" one session exclusively on this ctc. So I don´t think I will have another go at this ctc.

I, on the other hand, uses the challenges to get in shape (if my back allows me to. ) But it's very hard to hold up the shape and enthusiasm after an all out session. After rain comes sun and then it rains again for a while. At that point one can't see when the next bright period will pop up.

Re: April CTC: 639m.
Second attempt and my lungs are still burning 30 minutes later! - 2:06.1 (1:38.7 split) for a 3 seconds improvement. We need to find another 5 seconds to bump FS1 into bronze medal position - I could maybe, maybe find another 0.5~1s absolute max with a longer warm up but no more.
I set my split at 500m and it recorded 1:38.1 and my SB for 500m is 1:38.0
Boy - that hurt!

Well done on the 2nd attempt Dave.
Plonked my monthly effort in today.
One of those rare days when the warm up felt really connected and I wanted to PB a 5k or something!
Anyway, smashed my mental target of <1:35 with 1:32.9 & 1m 58.7
Apologies to Gary, I really did think you were out of reach.

Finally put in an attempt on Thursday night and managed 2:12.9. Nothing to set the world on fire but it did get another boat floated.
Come on everyone, put a time in! - its only 639m - and just think - only 639 of them will hurt

Re: April CTC: 639m.
Well, I'm back. I think I'll try to do the CTC as a way to keep myself honest.
This month was a lesson in how badly my sprinting has faded.
I made 4 attempts in a row today and bailed on the first three after varying distances. Finally in the fourth, I managed to hold a pace throughout. Pity the pace was way slower than I could have done in my prime. Pity also that I had probably toasted my legs a bit before the final attempt.
639m, 2:03.1, 1:36.3 pace.
I think with proper pacing, I could probably nip under 2:00. I wish I had tried earlier in the month.
On to May.
By the way, I'm back into a full on Wolverine Plan right now, and pulling myself out of the doldrums.

Re: April CTC: 639m.
Having been ill for a big part of April, then on a business trip, I had no idea where I would stand. So I tried to average 1:36 and failed. With 250m to go my splits started to sink rapidly and had to fight real hard to keep the average under 1:38, which was my reserve goal.
Ended up in 2:05.0, a 1:37.9 average. Still in first boat though. Sorry Plummy.

Re: April CTC: 639m.
I noticed we were one female short of floating a 6th boat, so I asked the lovely Jennifer to hop on the erg when she arrived home from a two hour hike. Being the obliging soul she is, she hopped on and covered the distance in 2:47.8.
So that's 6 boats floated.
