April CTC: 639m.

Post by Liefcat »

It seems like the Gee Crew have made their minds up about next month´s ctc:

"This will be 639mts it seems this is the sum of all the Gee Crew ages I thought this would be alot more than this with Tommy(the ageing juvenile)in the crew.

There's no restrictions on the drag factor, stroke rate, music you play while your rowing, the clothes you wear or what time of day you do it."

This distance should be doable for many people. :D :D

At a quick guesstimate Stan 460 x 35 (assuming an average age of 40ish) would be: 16100m. Not too outrageous.

I believe our average age would be significantly higher, probably easily enough to justify a HM at 21097m

639m? That's typically what I do when attempting the blind 666m challenge  (unless I'm on one of my 750+ days  )

Nice one Richard. Makes me the second one and a pair of us from "Down West".

02:03.4 639 35 0 01:36.5 1638 389
00:19.8 100 36 0 01:39.0 1541 361 Managed even pace or -ve split all the way
00:19.3 200 34 0 01:36.5 1640 389
00:19.3 300 37 0 01:36.5 1640 389

00:07.4 639 32 0 01:34.8 1710 410

Very pleased with that effort. I set out to do 1:40's thinking that would bring me in around 2:00 but miscalculated and had to scramble as soon as the monitor showed me the finish time in the first split. That's what comes of not working it out properly.

1st attempt for me:

1m 59.7s. DF 116, 1m 33.6s pace I think.

1st 100m 1m 35.x pace
rest in 1m 33.x except last 39m which were 1m 34.x

Didn't bother with S/R, just counted number of strokes from start (usual thing with me about closing my eyes and guessing roughly how far I have left before I open them
I counted 85 strokes in all, so I guess S/R was around 43

Might have another go at some point

Happy rowing

Jeez!!! That's just shown up my rowing naivety #-o . Decided on the 'fly or die' option and went off far too quick!! First 520 mtrs at approx 1.34 pace (quicker than my current 500 so I knew then I'd probably messed it up!) giving me a finish time of 2.00 mins, then I literally died the last 90 mtrs and this was the first time I've given up and stopped before the end of any distance!! You live and learn. I'll try again in a few days! [-o< Well done to everyone so far. =D>

2:09.1 (1:41.0 average split) and still suffering from the back end of a cold. First 150~200 felt great (couldn't believe I was pulling around 1:40's) and then it was just hang on.

I should be able to knock a second or two off that

First go at this today - am ultimately targeting around 1:43 pace for this which given I did 500m @ 1:41.7 only a couple of months back I think is achievable. However, didn't quite make it today - no power (may be something to do with the 'hour of power' I did yesterday for the WAARC??). Still, have a time to post and will give me something to chase for the rest of the month:

639m: 2:14.1 @ 36spm (av 1:44.9 pace)

Given I rated 45 for my 500m PB I think I should be able to get the stroke rate up a bit!!

Well done to everyone who's attempted this so far, some great times!! All the best to those still to have a go!

My first go at it as well - 2:16.2 There might be a bit more to come later in the month but it's a bit short for me this one. :( Quite a bit down on my season's best 500 pace so I will go again.

Still need one more HW to fill the second boat.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.

Many thanks again. Yes, it was quite a surprise to myself, to actually increase the pace with 2 pace seconds from 200 to 300 meters  It helped to hold the overall pace under 1:27 :D

I'm sure you will beat this! [-(

Had a dabble at this, this morning after a few sessions and a few 500m. I was feeling VERY stiff after yesterdays weights but this woke all my new muscles up.

639m...1:31.8...r33 (1:57.4)

Might try again and might not. :|
