March CTC 920m
Slightly strange distance chosen by the Taffs, and is to reflect that it is the 92nd ctc (I have done 89 of them )
I suspect a lot of people might want to do a 1k and take the first 920 - just set the splits to 920.

Re: March CTC 920m
Good idea Stan. You could also set the splits to 460, 230 or 115. Or even 184, if you want to be different from the common herd.
Given that I attempted 500m the other day and gave up after 420m, this distance should suit me perfectly.

Paul sorry to say that you'll still have another 500m to go on top of the 420m

Yes, I know. But I can target 1k and HD 80 meters before the end.millie wrote:Paul sorry to say that you'll still have another 500m to go on top of the 420m

Re: March CTC 920m
I decided to have a go at this today as a cool-down - 3:57.7. Wanted to be the first to submit a time, but the CTC site is still on last month's.
Hopefully will go much faster later in the month.

Hoping to have either a first go at the 920m or the 2k tomorrow morning - will be OTW early with my coach but hoping for a short technical row that can be warm up for an erg piece. The choice would appear to be between having really sore legs but only just over 3 minutes of pain, or slightly less sore legs but plenty of time for the HD demons to get in my ear....

Re: March CTC 920m
All my stuff recently has been about 20 SPM so sprinty stuff comes as a bit of a shock when its been 3 weeks since you've done any.
3:18.3 and didn't really get hold of it until about 400m in probably because my warm up wasn't ideal - being 50 minutes at 19SPM.
Not sure I'll be in any condition to try this again this month so this may be my only attempt. FS 1 - well done the LWT's so far

Very impressive Rachel. I also had a go and we have our first boat floated, but you have the fastest time in our boat.

You know, I think this is the first time I've ever been in a boat that is in a medal position - and a silver medal at that. I know it's only a fleeting experience, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts>

Re: March CTC 920m
Awesome effort Rachel
And not too bad from the men either
I was going to have a proper go at this or the 2k WAARC this morning, but my warmup 'light, technical' OTW row turned into a hardish session with lots of sprints thanks to my evil coach
I didn't feel too bad, but I knew that the HD demons would have a field day if I tried a full out effort
So I ended up doing 4 x 1k/5' r Pete Plan session, and so have taken the 920m split from my best interval just so I have something recorded (3:28.1). Like Alan will certainly be planning to go a fair bit faster in the next week or two.
Soooooo - this now means that FSII has a lighty and a female, just waiting to the HWT men to get their act together and post a time

Re: March CTC 920m
I nearly came unstuck on this. Got the HD Demons with 525m to go and stopped rowing but picked it up for a stonking finish
03:11.5 920 33 01:44.0
00:40.2 200 36 01:40.5
00:40.9 400 35 01:42.2
00:46.0 600 27 01:55.0 Handled down for a few seconds in this split
00:41.0 800 34 01:42.5
00:23.4 920 38 01:37.5
If I get it right another time, it appears that I can go quicker but not bad this time after a dinner last night with copious amounts of ale and wine.

Impressive to have picked the handle back up and then finish so strongly - you're going to smash that time when you can keep rowing for the full 920mbillwright wrote:Got the HD Demons with 525m to go and stopped rowing but picked it up for a stonking finish

Good start so far, we've just had our 2nd boat floated.
My first attempt ended with 2:58.6. I think I can go a bit quicker and can also sniff a 1k pb this month.

Re: March CTC 920m
Had a proper go this morning - decided to just get it out the way early so I can focus on the 2k for the rest of March - I've got this uncomfortable feeling that it will need a fair bit of work
Probably wasn't the best preparation as I did a double session yesterday (OTW then 4 x 1k OTE) but I'm reasonably happy with the outcome. My target pace was the 1:46.7 from last week's 1k erg test, didn't quite make that, but I guess I was missing some adrenaline and company this morning as well!
Managed 3:17.5, average pace 1:47.3.
So far second fastest female behind Rachel - I know that won't last but maybe I just won't look at the CTC site for the rest of the month

Re: March CTC 920m
Boat No 2 floated. That wasn't easy; I tried to put in a reasonable first 200m and then ease back into something I could hold and it worked reasonably well but I knew I'd done it. As I'm also aiming to do this >10k for 25 days or more this month I finished off with a long warm down. I think I need a beer . . .
Oh, for the record - 3:21.4
