I'm sure this'll all get sorted soon. Am guessing CTC Daren is a bit busy at the moment. He does a great job, so let's be patient and cut him a little slack.
I'll create a CTC challenge on ELM so you can log your times there for now.

I have posted my time and I am currently the sole occupant of Free Spirits I.
What's keeping the rest of you?

BTW - nice time for the mile Michelle - knocked me out of Boat I dammit! but much more respectable time for our top boat!
I'm going to have to get faster
48yo, weight... let's just say heavyweight & leave it at that.

I've just checked Mike's time and it's over 10 seconds faster than my 2k time (which was done as the first part of a 2k).Mike Channin wrote:I've posted mine on there, and that was done as (the first) part of a 5k today.
How depressing is that! I'm definitely going to have to work on my speed and stop watching the meter board.

I managed to hold the same split all the way through to 5k, with almost perfectly even splits. But it _was_ both one of the hardest pieces I've ever done, and one of the two or three top rows I've ever done. And I have spent best part of 10 months training up for this (and training HARD too), so don't feel too bad...

End of Jan, training to try to get fit again. (If I showed you the HR traces from back then, you wouldn't believe it was the same person - think 179 HR after 5k @ 2:07 and having to stop)
Then trying to get a half decent marathon time by end of April. Managed 2:54:40.9.
Then got a cold, so training to get fit again.
Then training for the Nijmegen challenge.
Then training up for the Indoor Race Season and specifically BIRC.
Not aimed at 5k specifically at any point. This was the last longer continuous flat-out piece before BIRC.

CTC Results from October
Team Points Gained
MAD - 169
Sub7 - 168
Free Spirits - 162
Forum Flyers - 120
Team Oarsome - 116
Banana Boat - 88
Independents - 63
WISE - 0
So we lost a bit of ground on the top 2 teams, but took a healthy chunk out of Team Oarsome and Forum Flyers.
Keep up the effort team - the leaderboard is ours for the taking. Post those times, no matter how poor.

If you are looking for poor times I can help out there - went through 2 km in 8:00:2 on the way to a 5 k PB so posted it on CTC - please don't leave me on shore again this month!

Team task - in addition to floating a load of boats this month, we have to not leave Mr Gould on shore. That said, bearing in mind how much distance he's done lately (and especially as he's demoted me on the meter board again ) maybe he's quite capable of rowing a boat by himself!

It's not going to happen very often and it is so far due mainly to circumstances but my new 2k PB has got me into Boat 1 on this months CTC.
Ok, OK there are only 3 postings from FS rowers but I'm still happy to spend some, however little, time in Boat 1
Agree with Mike that we can't leave Mr Gould stranded on shore this month.

Great effort Thomas and Dave. Good to hear from you Mr Lemon, Lord of the Meter Board. Good luck in the lwt quest - will be great news for CTC (although you'll need to create a new CTC profile for Lwt, and email Daren about removing your Hwt time - will sort this out for you if you make it!)
Good to see those boats filling up already. Now where are the women and lightweights again???

I suspect the onus is on me to post a decent time in order not to be left behind - seeing BWD's great 2k effort has inspired me and also forced me to aim for some Nonathlon points and what better place than in the CTC challenge.

Had my first serious attempt in four months at a sub 7 2k this morning.
Feeling a bit under the weather when I started, but settled into a rhythm around 1:45/1:46 and kept at this pace until a late sprint.
I left the sprint a little bit too late and ended up with 7:00.4. Splits were 1:45.7, 1:45.8, 1:45.8 and 1:43.1.
The good news is that I'm (temporarily) back in Free Spirits I, although it hasn't improved our position and nobody has a full boat as yet.
Let's get a few L&Ls (ladies and lightweights) launched.

I was hoping to temporary hold the top of the CTC board today, but I had a fly and die and thru in the towel after only 1167m
On my current 2K PB I crossed the 1K mark after 3:10.6, today I crossed it after only 3:07.0 .
I started faster then my last 2K and even mile attempt, and stayed faster then the mile attempt until 600m .
Very very stupid . I'm going to have another 2K tomorrow and hopefully I can finish that one (as I really need my final 2K before the BIRC to be a finished one)
