2012 Weight Loss Thread

Post by Grobi »

A new year has started with many of us having made new year's resolution regarding body weight. We had a 2011 weight loss thread started by Paul Victory which has come to an end now.

To keep the momentum I'd like to start a new thread for 2012 and would like to invite everybody with weight loss goals to join in (Paul Victory, Alan Strang, Simon Boyd, Marty J, Wendy, Dave (?)...).

Unfortunately I have to start this thread reporting a weight gain over the past two weeks  Christmas and new year's celebrations have left their marks on my scales:

Date________mass [kg]__weekly change__total change__body fat [%]

17/10/11____83.5______+0.0___________+0.0_________15.3
24/10/11____83.7______+0.2___________+0.2_________15.4
31/10/11____81.7______-2.0___________-1.8__________14.3
04/11/11____81.3______-0.4___________-2.2__________14.1

Just got my rower back, after having loaned it to my brother, who sadly, used it mostly as a coat rack, I'm back with the Free Spirits. Unfortunately, there is more of me than there used to, so I'm in for the weight loss thread.

02/01/12___91.1___Start____Start____Unknown-But not a good number, I'm sure!

Nice to see you Cliff.

I took the plunge and stood on the scales this morning.
15 stone bang on, in good old English money. Or 95.2 kg.
I know it's all relative, but this is quite heavy for me.
So whilst I leave the alcohol alone for Jan I'll record any weight/mass loss here.

No 89kg would be fine. Just under a stone. (which is actually what my current sig says now I'm looking at it!).

I'm happy to continue posting in this thread, although it's likely to only be until the end of January. After that, I'll probably switch to weight maintenance rather than loss. First weigh in of 2012 on Saturday morning...

Hi Peter and gang-my weight has been creeping back up and last Christmas I went from 88kg to 92 kg and stabilised at that for the rest of the year, could not lose the 4kg and my results show that.

Now another 2kg has gone on this Christmas after being really careful !

So up to over 94Kg so for a shortie like me thats way too much

Would ideally like to get to 80Kg and a BMI of 25 however to get back to 88kg as a first goal would be more sensible so that's my first target :D by BIRC

So here goes......

Date________mass [kg]__weekly change__total change

04/1/12____94.2______+0.0___________+0.0

Very impressive weight loss Alan, well done indeed! =D> I'd say that's enough for weight loss, I think you can concentrate on keeping your weight now and getting quicker for your 1k race at the end of the month. But you'll probably intend to do that anyway.

Thanks Peter, and Christine too. Yup, my focus has now shifted towards the race, so my gym sessions are less about the quantity and more about the quality.

To be honest, I'd be happy to get down to 83.0kg just to ensure I have no weigh-in worries (different time of day, wearing gym clothes, different scales, etc) on the day, although I suspect I'd be fine even as I am presently.

After two weeks of holiday travel (read: eating and no exercise) to the inlays and back to the UK, I weighed in this morning and had put on 0.7Kg. I am sure it was higher but I have been a very good boy since I got back on Thursday and got back onto the erg. I didn't reach my year-end goal of 100Kg but I intend to achieve that ASAP before setting the more aggressive target for 2012 of rowing my first kilometres as a lightweight before the end of the year. :-) I still want to achieve 2m season meters but I know its going to be tough now, with the amount of time left...

Happy New Year everyone and best of luck with the challenges ahead!

Simon

Welcome back Cliff.
Weight tends to go up and down due to the way you choose to live. I have cancelled the January beers so I'm expecting the weight to go way down from now on!

27/05/11______89.6___________-3.4__________________-8.9
____________________________________________________________________________

09/01/12______91.5___________+0.9__________________-7.0

Gained very little weight since May 2011 but I have been around 94 this Christmas so I'm loosing fast now :!: :D

I'm traveling this week, which makes it hard (no rower, no treadmill, restaurants galore). Very true about the way one lives. I gained back when I slacked and then sympathy ate, with our last pregnancy. I dont drink, so I can' cut alcohol, but, I'm trying to cut back on the sweets which are my nemesis (and best friend). :)

Living without beer makes the weight drop dramatically! :-D But the lack of beers also makes you body think of something else to fill into the stomach. #-o
