Modest improvement not really sure why it might be the fact I have done a few longer rows recently, in last 2 weeks have done an HM, 1 hour free rate, 1 hour r20, 10k as well as some nasty Gary Intervals and a 2k TT-that'll do it every time

Well done Alan! Looks like your body has adapted to two different weights only recently, it's either 92kg or 93 kg :D

If you want to get your weight further down you know now how to do it: HM, 1hour, 1hour r20, 10k, Gary intervals, 2k TT, all done within two weeks  :fswink:

Good news Alan. I hope that's the break through you've been 'weighting' for

Erik, you are so funny  You've given me a brilliant idea for weight loss - I'm going to starve my cat to death (don't worry, I haven't got a cat). Well done to you and the cat =D> 7 kilos is a monster cat. He must be in the biscuit tin while you're on the erg.

I can't be disappointed. I know I've eaten too much yet again. I suppose it all comes down to knowing what you want - the desire to lose weight has to be greater than the desire to eat and this week it hasn't been

I think it's time I decided that piling on the pounds doesn't count as convalescence any more when you're bouncing with health, rowing like a demon and busily stuffing back the chocolate bars and biscuits

So - this week, I'm going to try really hard and not eat any of those bars 'n biccies and see if I manage to lose anything. If I don't, I'll need to actually consider being mean with the serving spoons at meal times...

Okay - for one week! No choccy and no biccies. Not a square and not a crumb. This might be quite a challenge for me!

After being sick for most of the week and unable to eat anything for two days, I thought my weight would probably have dropped a bit. [-o< Unfortunately, I also had hardly any exercise all will until yesterday at Madchester and I had an appetite like a horse last night, partly catch up on lost time for last week and partly due to the excellence of the food on offer at the post rowing barbeque.

Net outcome was a small loss, but last week can't really be taken as indicative of anything, given the unusual circumstances. Having resolved that I would post more regularly, I decided to do so this week in spite of the above.

I stayed the same. Which is I guess is better than gaining, but doesn't actually feel that good at all. It didn't help that we had takeaway on Tuesday (which was the day my son moved house and we were all shattered), and then there was a meal out on Friday. I didn't exactly disgrace myself but the halo is not all that shiny either

Still - here's a new week - onward and downward :)

Scoop, Wendy, Paul we all seem to be just about keeping it level or small losses, I think we need a BIG PUSH to get if off-I am just slightly over before last night's row or slightly under after, so I'll take the weight after as that is when I have been recording the weights up until now :D

Must do a marathon someday and then weigh myself I would be 3kg lighter the amount I sweat   [-X

No, it comes from Dutch, meaning "sweet" :!: Many years ago I had an Icelandic chess coach who had a cat named "Lív", meaning "life"... It was more or less the same pronunciation, but I wanted it the "Dutch way"... Anyways, Lief was my first cat and she wasn´t that big and kept her weight almost "locked" at 4.5 kg.

Here´s a photo of the two of them together, Lief and Agnieszka - from 2004 or 2005:

Good to hear she got that old :!: 8) Lief got to 15 years, and in October Agnieszka will turn 13, but of course some level of weight management will make her expected life span longer... :D

Good luck with your collie dog - 22kg sounds like a lot - must eat (also) a lot of dog food :!: 8) :D

Erik,

Izzie is really a cross between a border collie and a Labrador, Labs tend to be bigger-qand like their food :D

Apparently her optimal weight is around 19-20kg but she looks positively skeletal at that weight.

She's more the equivalent of my stature in doggie terms, on the heavy side but not very tall

Small gain this week, but I guess it could have been worse as I did no erging and didn't really watch what I ate. On holidays from Wednesday for two and a half weeks and will be weighing in again until I return.

Who knows what I'll weigh then.

Good grief! I lost 2kg

I know why. It is hard for insulin dependent diabetics to lose weight if we consume more than 100g of carbohydrate a day simply because insulin is a hormone which (amongst its other functions) actually encourages weight gain. For most diabetics then, lots of carbs = lots of insulin to process it = weight gain or at the least, no weight loss. (Unless you happen to be someone like Sir Steve Redgrave who consumed a LOT of carbs, had an insulin pump, and exercised like a loon every day for years).

This week I dropped the carbohydrate content of my food down and kept the calories reasonable at the same time. I had loads of energy, felt great and lost 2kg. Yay

The best part of this part must surely be...."felt great"! Well done for realising what needed doing and then doing it - no easy feat. And 2kg off is a great bonus! =D>

My husband made chocolate fudge brownies . He makes the best fudge brownies in the whole world. I used to take ginormous batches to the office and grown men would stampede to the kitchen to get them, and he went and made a large trayful for the house.....

I have disgraced myself ....
56, 5'8", 78kg but trying hard to be less than I am!

I have become (un)comfortably numb

Wendy after dinner had my second (large slice of birthday cake) so am in the same shame boat. Tomorrow is a veggie day for both of us!

So time to fess up...in the last three weeks I have put on almost 10 pounds vacation+ice cream+beer=chubby former lightweight

July 23...156lbs  :(

My husband (who has lost and kept off 40 lbs) challenged me to a weight loss contest from now until our anniversary on Aug 25. He is in CA on travel so has to be picky about restaurant food and makes sure he gets to the gym while on a stressful job assignment. Meanwhile I am here with the kids trying to avoid ice cream and beer. Visiting my erg every day will be key...
Christine - 46, 5'8" lightweight...only when I really need to be.
