Should we have a separate Forum for Racing Info?

Post by Mike Channin »

I was thinking about adding a new forum area called "Competitions and Racing" or similar to hold info about all the external competitions (such as the CTC) and races.

It would hold things like the Race Callendar. Lists of people going to the races, and any other relevant info - entry forms, costs, location, anything else useful.

Would also hold summaries of the results.

I'm happy to act as a 'sort of' captain and organise this, as it'll force me to actually go all the races I can get to.

I remember doing your first race is somewhat daunting, and is always easier to know you'll have friends there to support you. It'd be nice if we could have a presence at the race meetings to cheer each other on, and pick up the pieces afterwards.

I thought it would be sensible to keep this stuff out of the main FS forum.
Thomas reckons we have enough forums already and it could go in the main forum.

What do YOU think?

I think that this should be part of the tips and tricks forum, with it renamed Racing and training tips and tricks. I am worried that we will otherwise start to have too many forums for too few members.

When we have 200 registered and rowing members I think it would be the time to make the new forum.

Now my thought was that 'tips and technique hints' mainly applies to training, and is general usage for everyone, whereas the racing and competition stuff is only relevant to those who do that sort of thing.

Of course the great thing about FS is that everyone decides this sort of thing, so help us out!

OK - I graciously admit defeat on this. All racing info is now going in the Tips and Technique forum.

Thomas, can you change the title to something that includes Race info too, so people know where to look for race related stuff.
