Welcome Hayley Plumb
I would just like to welcome Hayley also - as she is my (just turned) 13 year old daughter. She's promised that she will row "regularly" and not just a couple of times so she can see herself on the website.
Anyway time will tell but as we say - it all counts whether it be 10 or 10,000 meters and if it gets her into C2 rowing then I'll be rightly proud of her

Here's the challenge!
Guess what - another recruit to possibly put Dad to shame. He he he!
And I guess Dad scores 1 point on ELM FS Fun for a new recruit?

Can everyone encourage all new members (and anyone else who hasn't registered for the forums that they introduced) to register for the forums and maybe write a little intro as to who they are and what their goals and aims are.
Also, is there any chance of getting a group mailing list sorted, so that we can send out a regular newsletter?

I noticed my leg was in some decent pain just after joining the Free Spirits. I joined cause I'm just not getting enough motivation out of the C2 site, and finally clicked on the University/Club links and opened a whole new world. I joined and became instantly excited to get back on the erg to row!
I had just rowed for four days straight to get my endurance back again after my 4 week absence from the rower. Bah. I took a night off from the erg, and my leg got worse. The next day I couldn't move.
I went to the hospital to get it checked and found out I broke my leg at a family outing the week before. I'm really bummed and want to row even with my broken leg.
A litte upset, but glad to be here,
Bruin

The forum software can send mails as you know but it looks a bit cludgy. I imagine I could pull a mailing list from the database though.Mike Channin wrote:Also, is there any chance of getting a group mailing list sorted, so that we can send out a regular newsletter?
Are you going to write the newsletter? (I am deeply mentally scarred after being put in charge of the "firm" newsletter a few jobs ago.)

Bruin - amazing stuff - erging with a broken leg is truly scary. Just think how easy it'll be when you're fixed! Good luck with the healing process - let us know how you are getting on. Hope you're back rowing soon.
Thomas - we can definitely collect a list from the forum registerees, but what about all those who've joined but not registered? How do we reach them to encourage them to come on the forum and share their opinions, experiences, advice and support? And yes, I could be persuaded to write some kind of newsletter, although maybe we should either rotate the job, or write a little bit each.
We'll make it to the moon yet. Noticed we've made a little ground there recently...

Welcome all new FSers although Bruin has scared the crap out of me. Rowing with a broken leg, was this an ELM challenge I was unaware of

HM machine
OK, who recruited Gemunu Peries?
Have you seen his log book? Major respect. He seems to churn out a HM a day.
If somebody could let me have his e-mail address I'll let him know about the ELM stuff as a lot of the distance pieces he will win by a country mile.
My gripe is that I'm quietly focussed on getting into the top half of the metre board and somebody recruits a HM machine.
Seriously though, welcome all and please use the forum, CTC, ELM, etc as they are all great tools.

ok all, thanks for the sympathy but alas, none required.
I got the cast off Monday and have an air spint now. Couldn't row with a cast on. I thought about constructing some sort of cart so my bum leg could go forward and back while my other leg did all the work, but then I'd have a favored leg, so I bit the bullet and did nothing the past week and a half.
Last night I took my splint off to row and today I'm a bit sore to say the least. Perhaps I should cut down to 5k while healing.
Anyway, glad to be back in the saddle... er seat again, and thanks for your support.

OK, OK
Have been on the team for a month plus now, and am responding to the anti-lurking message.
I am 31, live in Winchester and work for the Nash as an anaesthetist.
Somehow manage to fit in a bit of rowing around the legendary junior doctor hours; I've owned a c2 for a couple of years, but have been making a much bigger effort in 2006 (a New Year resolution still going - must be some kind of record, surely?).
All my PB's are from this season, but are becoming harder... Really want to do a sub-18 minute 5k as my next milestone (having cracked the >8k in 30 minutes).
Oh, and hello to all, btw.
Ben

Welcome aboard Ben - good to know people are actually reading and responding to the anti-lurking message!
Looking at your 30 min distance, you should have no problem going sub 18 minutes for the 5k. I did a 17:48 recently, and haven't got over 8065m for 30 mins recently. Pick off the sub 22min 6k on the way down! Best of luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi - Just joined - wasn't even a lurker for more than 10 minutes.
How do I ensure that my metres count towards the team and the moon shot - does that happen automatically, not much but 300K closer to that lovely lunar landscape
Mike Channin - you can ignore the PM I sent -I got over my brain trouble, was trying to affiliate on the C2 forum profile, not the main online log profile
regards

Winchester, Alton and Alison in Hampshire.
With me near Marlborough Wilts, sounds like a West Contry get together could be in order??

Only if they are quicker than you - which they probably are! He he he!
Yes - score +2 to the TWP!
Think that puts you ahead...?
Hmmm...another recruitment drive coming up me thinks?
I reckon we should look to clocking 1M a day as a team - which gives us a strong chance of chasing the moon. We are doing about 800k at the moment (see Team Metres Board).
