Great stuff, Wendy - I see you're long gone into the distance of the higher reaches.

I do seem to be having a great battle with Scoop at the moment (and Stan, we're not _that_ far behind you, either ;-))

Good grief there's an almighty gap between me at no. 8 and Karl Meyer at no. 7 . I think once I've dug myself in comfortably in this slot I may well just be trying to stay put rather than paddle further up the board.....

Come to that, just hanging on here might not be that easy!

If you do that 48 hour row you were talking about, that would certainly cement your present position. You'll be half dead by the end of it, but that's the power of the almighty meter board.

I'm leading myself into it; this weekend is three sets of two on two off. I'm going to creep up on it so that it doesn't feel like too much all at once

I'll be a while of increasing the numbers of sets ... if I fling myself into it all in one go I'll crash and burn, but stealth mode will fool me into not realising what I'm doing

Stealth mode - I like that  .

Do you have anyone to help you through all of this? Surely you don't even consider doing it all on your own!

My husband will do food and drink for me - he knows what suits me best. And I'm seeing the consultant diabetic specialist in the autumn for my normal appointment; she's extremely helpful about adjusting insulin to suit whatever you're doing. Aside from that I think what I need will become apparent during the creeping phase, which should last a good few months. I remember doing a lot of work in the lead up to the 100km and it paid off in the end, so I won't begrudge some prep time now :)

Good luck with the long row attempt Wendy. Even thinking about that one is too much for me.

This should be my time to put away a few metres but work has not dropped off as hoped and if anything has increased! Consequently it's time to readjust my goals.

Did a piece yesterday after my hols and even allowing for the fact that I've lost my HR belt ( :( ) it was not pretty or good.

Having also dropped around 40 places in 3 weeks, for me I'm looking to finish in the top half of the MB this season.

To all those in the top 30 or so, I admire your dedication and commitment and when I get to within a hundred places of you, keep looking over your shoulder. :^o

There's a good old battle going for places 21-26 on the board at the moment.

I had a few days out with illness, and got swamped by Scoop and David Taylor (is that Big Wave Dave of old?)
And waiting in the wings are uncle Bill, and my nemesis, Mr Gould.

I'm going to sneak a few places back now, but who knows for how long??

Oh and just above this is my old pal Stan. (Keep watching over your shoulder...! )

First of the three sessions for the day was enormous fun! Glam Rock =D> Such a long time since I listened to some of those bands!

Next session will be Pink Floyd because I don't want to wear ear buds for every single session and husband doesn't like heavy metal. So Floyd it is, with a little bit of Nightwish thrown in because - hey - it's Nightwish, what's to object to?

That was good too - I never get tired of listening to David Gilmour play ^O^

I have to change my trainers over for the last one of the day. Getting a thundering great blister! Drat! Remembered to put plasters on my fingers so they're fine. Broken toe is doing great, strapped to its neighbours it keeps very quiet and I hardly know it's there.

I'm using earbuds for the last session so it can be Black Stone Cherry, Nickelback and good old Led Zep.

Mike - yes that is me playing yo-yo with you and Mr Gould; just don't get on the forum much these days. Glad to see you returning to form.

Well, after a weekend off (as I only row at lunchtimes at work at the moment), I find they've all shot past me, and now I have a load of other big meter rowers looming up behind me too. The joys of the meter board!

Great stuff, Free Spirits - keep it up!

Dropped 50 places in the last few weeks and am now at 151, that's a gap of 91Km  . I will commence a long climb tonight.

I've been dropped from 22nd to 26th in a matter of days, and looking at the rate that Doc RowSlo is closing, will be 27th soon. At least this means there's a lot of meters being rowed - well done guys! (and good to see you on the forum Big Wave Dave!)

I've been meter-board stalking Christine. Today's row should have taken me within 3,000 meters, but it looks like she did a half-marathon last night. =D> That's the last I'll see of her. [waves good-bye]

That's the sort of thing Christine does - next time you look she'll be 800k ahead of you

Oh Zoot. Sweet woman that I am, I took a few days off so you could get ahead again. I did not want to crush your spirit. Yet.
