Team 100 Million Meters
Just noticed that we're not too far off 100 million meters for the team this season. (Currently on 89,279,677m).
What a great milestone that will be for the Free Spirits!!!
We also aren't too far off TWICE the distance of the next team down (the Iron Oarsmen, currently on 47,186,677m)
And for those ex-WISE people, they only have 17,767,669m....
So well done to all free spirits, and keep it up.
(And if you need any extra incentives, there are some extra distance challenges under Free Spirits Extreme in ELM that you can use to keep you going.)
Mike, Proud to be a Free Spirit.

We are going grand!
Hey both!
Yes - pulling away somewhat now.
To put it into context - we are almost 2 1/2 times around the world.
We have LAPPED the Iron Oarsmen who are now over 40M behind us.
Thomas don't worry - The moon percentages (time elapsed/distance covered) are closing - it's just that these figures move more slowly. Remember all HELL breaks loose in the last 3 months leading up to end April.
It's also holiday season - so people aren't clocking as much as normal from June - August.
We also have October - our Marathon month.
I will be setting a new challenge that EVERYONE can do.
For those that know any Green Day songs....
"Wake me up when September ends" - will be the name of the challenge. So at the end of September, you log on the challenge the total cumulative metres you have achieved for the whole of October. A good month to do it - few holidays, 31 days, cool temperatures, no excuses. I will post mine as the month progresses - say every few days...keep editing the result - so more fun that way - people jostling for position throughout the month?!
We may get a few new people - Ann that joined this week I invited way back in June - so people may take time to get to their emails.
Am I worried - nah!
Am I pleased - yep!
Am I proud of you lot - You BET!!! Best team I've ever seen!!
Do I get a kick out of seeing WISE less than 1/2 way round the world?
Well. What do you think?
OH GOD - I hear you cry - NOT MORE MOTIVATION!!!!

Mike, I know you're famed for long distances and the hard yards but even you might find 116k in one sitting a little too much?
We should have set a competition about 200k ago. The team mate who rowed the 100 millionth metre gets a free T shirt, if there's enough in the kitty?
Perhaps this should be an ELM challenge towards the end of the season when the moon comes into sight?

Too late Mike - through the 100m mark.
Mr Sims will probably use this as an excuse for another ELM challenge, perhaps 17,840 mtrs being the amount we have gone over the 100m? I'm sure he'll think of something.
Don't have the technical knowledge to know who pushed us over the line here and it probably doesn't really matter anyway.
Well done to all Free Spirits.

OK, I admit i couldn't add up ealier on! I reckon jlemon could probably help us to pinpoint whoever it was who clocked up the 100,000,000th meter, but it might be a bit of hassle.
Still got to get on and do my distance. Still knackered after my 8 x 500m yesterday, which has stuffed my hamstrings for some reason.
But WELL DONE ALL FREE SPIRITS! Next stop 200 million, then on to 300 million. And after that, well, the moon!
Has anyone figured out, are we gaining on it or losing at the moment. (By this I mean, are we getting further behind target or not?)
