Added 99m to my 30min time today to finish with 7395m.

Matched the previous time's 2:03.4 pace boat for the first 20min then finished the last 10mins under the 2:00 split.
That's been my most enjoyable work out this season by far. \:D/

Think my problem has been that I've been trying to beat my PBs when I should be forusing more on beating my SBs. Slowly but surely and all that.

Chipping away at my 5k time - I finally broke 26 min! My 25:42.8 moved me up two spots on the age group ranking, too. Still trying to break 2:30...

Decided to try for a pb at 6k today. Blew up with 700 to go and had to stop for a few seconds. Ended up with a seasons best of 23:36.1.

Reduced my 1k time by 4.2 seconds this morning to 3:24.2, now just have to hang on for another 36secs to make a big improvement on this months CTC

Improved my 60mins SB distance from 13,457m to 14,106m today.
Very satisfying row as I did the first half slowly due to being scared I was going to fly and die yet again. :?

First half in 2:13 splits I think, second half in about 2:02 splits. Need to start a bit faster if I want to get anywhere close to my PB though.

Hot shower ended up being a very enjoyable bath after pleasantly collapsing into the bath. (made all the better after addition of dodgy spanish shower gel that definitely works better as bubble bath) :)

Can't believe I am having to post on this damn thread again. Decided to have another go at the 6k today and blew apart with 200 to go and finished in 23:32.3, a mere 3.5 seconds outside my pb.

I now have 3 days off in Barcelona so I may well try again when I get back on Sunday

Just attempted the 2k properly for the first time this season. I was aiming for splits of 1:52.0 - 1:53.0 but I started off at at 1:50 and only hit 1:53 for one 100m spell near halfway. Managed to speed up a tad to 1:43.0 split to finish with 7:18.3.
Very happy with that considering my PB is 7:13.7. I'll have to attack it again in a couple of weeks.

Did a 5k tonight and reduced my SB by 24secs to 18:43.9 - not too far away from a PB but that really would have been beyond me today. Had to hang on for last 600m or so but couldn't really expect anything else I suppose.

I have posted so little in the "bests" threads this year.

But I am happy tonight. :D I did a pace test for BIRC. Loads more in the blog (including a picture of the finished painting - phew) but I aimed for 6:50 and swept home in a somewhat agonised (and stunned) 6:46.9 .

It looks like I have a shot at my PB at BIRC - Can I lose 4 seconds in 4 weeks?

That's quite a breakthrough Thomas. I'm very impressed by your pacing. Lately on the TT's I've been fly and die myself and I know it's not the way to go. That's one very blue gate. Surprised you didn't add a couple of orange stripes.

New SB in the HM this afternoon, ended with perfect 2:00/500 splits - last 1k was really hard to get there, final time 1:24:23.6, really happy with that

6.44.5 YESTERDAY AT THE WELSH IRC. I WAS LOKING FOR A 6.44 BUT POSSIBLY STARTED A LITTLE TOO CONSERVATIVELY. NEVER MIND, I WILL TRY TO LOWER THIS AT BIRC. 8-[
IF WE'RE KEEPING SCORE WINNING IS ALL THAT MATTERS.

Went out to local Irish Bar yesterday to watch Liverpool fail to beat the mighty Arsenal, feeling chuffed with myself for rowing 10k beforehand. Too many beers followed by a trip to Pizza Hut for stuffed jalapeños starter and a spicy mexican pizza (no, not the smallest one). Weight myself this morning to see my weight had risen 4.7lbs in 2 days. Not good, so I forced myself to do a 1hr row either side of a 1k warm-up/warm down.

Finished with 14,340m (2:05.5), a SB from 14,106m a fortnight ago.
Wasn't really going that fast but I seem to have a problem finishing the 1hr at the moment, so I decided to row at least 2:08ish splits for the first 30mins then at least 2:05ish for the rest.

Looks like I'll have to update my signature again. :D

First half marathon of the season and therefore a personal best:
1hr 29 mins 14.1 sec (2:06.8)
With 2k to go and the average splits over 2:07 I was really struggling but I sped up a bit for the final 1k.
Glad to have finished now. God that bath was good. :D

Cheers plummy.

After today's failed 2km I decided to try the 500m for the second time his season. SB down to 1:36.3 now from last month's poor 1:40.7 attempt.
I don't often row after midnught. Perhaps I should do it more often? :)

 I remember when you and I were swapping PBS and you did something that afternoon that blew my time away (6000m?). I was marking at the time. When I finished, at about 11pm I went to the rower and beat your time. It damn near killed me. Those were the days.

he he, I remember them well - That was great motivation for getting back on the next day and trying again. Think I've got a long way to go to catch up with you now. At least I'm slowly getting closer to my PBs all the time.

Seasons best 10k this morning of 40:12.1. The first 5k was ok at 2:00.5 pace but lost a bit of concentration (or perhaps it was a wimpish idea to avoid pain) over the next 4k and left myself too much to do over the final km to get a pb. As I may have said before - there is always next time.

A season's best 30 minute session of 7071 - on my own rower, not the gym ones that I think are dodgy.

Not a great distance but considering my season only really started in earnest a few weeks ago, I'm feeling pretty smug about it.

Will fess up though that it was a failed 10k attempt. I panicked when the clock was showing I'd finish in around 42:45 thinking that my previous SB was about 42:30. So decided to go for the half hour instead.

Finished the 30 min. Did a longish cool down to get me over 10k for the day (to go up 3 metre board places - and would have been 4 places with another 53m - ) and then found that my previous SB over the 10 was 43:49! Damn and blast!!

Still - try again tonight as I really enjoye the quicker pace.
Uphill to the finish
