Congratulations plummy. Big improvement in the 60 minutes and nice to get under 2:00 pace for the 30 minutes. =D> =D> =D>

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Added a 1k SB tonight with a full EF warm up (over 4k) but no "pre-sprints".
3:31.6 which takes 8.9s off my previous best (admittedly a bit weak). Nice dollop of Nonathlon points though.

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Hi guys its me again I was a half decent half marathon away from topping the meta nonathlon table last November when I hurt my shoulder, it was really cold at work so I put some extra layers on under my overalls and twisted it as I pulled them on ..as simple as that and I end up with the worst injury of my life so far ,by the end of the shift I could not lift my arm above waist height i went to the doctors and found I had knackered my rotator cuff
So after 6 months of physio I could get my arm up to shoulder height and reach forwards far enough to try to row
Anything above 2:20 pace hurt and 10 min was all I could manage but after a few weeks of just getting on with it I now have 90% movement back so there is light at the end of the tunnelB-)
2 season bests both terrible compared to before but I,m just happy to be doing anything at all
5k 21:37 and 13189m in 1hour
Just taking it 1 row at a time but its improving

Welcome back Den. Rotator cuff injuries are real pigs to shift (I know having "done" mine once). Onwards and upwards from here hopefully

2k 8:22.3 started out at 1:59 pace but my shoulder did not like that so eased back until there was no pain held mostly 2:06s for the full 2k stressful but felt if my shoulder would allow it I could go faster

2 season bests in the last few days
2k 8:10.3 a 13 second improvement
5k 21:03 a 20 second improvement
No reaction from the shoulder but not confident enough to sprint at the end yet so still more to come
Noticed that Stan just went under 21 min for 5k we seem fated to chase each other ..its good to be back Stan

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
A bit short on time today so I thought I would try and knock a little bit of my weak 2k SB ( 7:39.7 ) - ended up with a decent 14.3 second improvement down to 7:25.4.
Not bad considering how rarely I do them

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Today's row was going to be either an SB or a HD. I decided to have a go at the FM, with no specific preparation and having been in relatively poor form recently. But I figured this was the only way I would be able to improve my nonathlon score as the 100 bonus points would be added, even if I took four hours to do the FM.
My targets were as follows:
Bronze - finish the d*mn thing!
Silver - sub 3 hours
Gold - do the fastest time so far this season in the MHWT 60-69 category (target to beat 2:58:12.0)
I started off around 2:03 pace and stayed under 2;05 for the first 10k or so. I slowed down to around 2:07 pace in order to keep my heart rate in or around the 140 mark as I wanted to avoid burn out. This felt comfortable enough and my main concerns around the half way mark were a pain a developed in my left hand just below the thumb and the occasional stomach cramp that suggested that a bathroom break might become necessary at some stage.
I managed to keep going at around 2:06 to 2:07 pace, although the cramp in my hand was getting worse. My projected time remained at or below 2:58 and I managed to pick it up over the last 5k or so to finish in 2:56:47.7 @ 2:05.7 pace. This is over 4 and a half minutes slower than my PB from April, but is my second best time for an FM and it gives me my highest nonathlon score this season of 961. So I'm happy enough with that for a non premeditated FM.
Splits were as follows:
Distance Time Pace Rating Heart Rate
5275 21:41.1 2:03.33 28 141
10550 21:56.2 2:04.76 27 143
15825 22:22.4 2:07.24 26 140
21100 22:20.2 2:07.03 25 142
26375 22:17.0 2:06.73 25 145
31650 22:09.8 2:06.05 25 157
36925 22:13.2 2:06.37 26 163
42195 21:47.9 2:04.09 28 174
42195 2:56:47.7 2:05.70 26 150

Nice work, Paul! Are you going to have a few days off to recuperate? (I've never done a FM, I think it'd be the end of me!)

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Thanks Jane.
To be honest, I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow. I don't feel that bad tonight and I went for a 2 and a half mile walk before going to bed (where I'm now on my iPad). I'll see how I feel tomorrow, but I'll probably do a recovery row unless I'm too sore.
Doing an FM is as much a mental chore as a physical one and that's why I tend to fo them off the cuff. If I spent a lot of time thinking about it, I'm not sure I'd ever do another one.

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
My best 1k in nearly 3 years!
Hurt like a bitch for the last 150. Lactic isn't something I experience very often (too many long rows) but this one had it in buckets. Lung burn too. Altogether, pretty nasty but I guess if it didn't hurt, I wasn't trying hard enough.
For this season it was a further 2.6s off and 11 Nonathlon points

I'm pretty sure that was a chest belt issue. I glanced at it a few times and thought "please increase as I need it to clear some lactic and pump some oxygen around" but it only raced up to 160+ just after I finished!

Nice 5k Alan. =D> =D> =D> I think it shows that not only are you rubbish at pacing, you're also a lot fitter than you think you are!
I managed to knock 0.1 seconds off my 100m time today - now 16.9 seconds. It was done after I did the CTC, so maybe I could knock off another little bit if I did it when slightly fresher.
