Indeed you do Ian! Love my Polar, have done for years. I tried the Garmin for a bit, but just didnt get the same accuracy or feedback with it, so went back to my old best friend (used with an H10 chest strap).
Tako - thank you and, yes it's by choice.

That's an incredible row. 52, 5' 3" - you're right, good things DO come in small packages - awesome

Thank you, thank you. I have to be honest and say I picked up a couple of fab tips on here - might be basic to some but helped me no end. So using the balls of my feet more, breaking it up in to chunks (had a teaspoon of Nutella and half a pint of water every 10km) and most importantly, bubblewrap for the backside!
I think long distances are my thing, I dont really enjoy anything under 30 mins....does that make me a total weirdo? hahaha

Well done Marta. For a 2k you need to be pushing up the stroke rate if at all possible. See if you can hold 27~28 for 1,000 and see how that feels first.

Very well done Marta
I think if you can get your stroke rate up( to 30+) you will see more massive improvements.

Didn't plan my morning well (i.e. didn't want to get out of bed) so switched from my planned fletcher workout to a straight hour.
I partly wanted to log a reasonable hour for the lightweight monthly challenge, bu I also wanted to see if even a couple of weeks of heart rate training had to be anything....
This is +82m over my PB
The reality is that it's probably too soon to say it's down to fletchers impact, but the signs from my heart rate trace are positive - there's effort reflected here, but it's not (for me) flat out....

After a failure to even get started on the planned session on Friday morning, Saturday off as my daughter was home for the weekend. I tossed up whether to do the missing Friday session or a 2k TT after following the beginner Pete plan for 8 weeks. Season PB by 40s and managed to get sub 9 min. That 9 min carrot kept me going with 300m left, to finish 8.59.8, nothing left to give after that. Next stop sub 8:30 presuming I stay injury free

Once again I am reminded of how much of rowing - particularly long distance rowing - is mental. I wanted to stop a half marathon 1500m in today, and stuck it out for a PR by 38.4 seconds.
Cheers,
Colin

A PB so really happy but not quite as I was ssssoooooo close to finally getting under 2.00/500. Next time I'll get there
. Still doing something right.
Brilliant efforts from all the other free spirits, I love seeing what can be achieved.

Lesley, you have every reason to be proud of your latest achievement, especially as itβs already faster than your PB of six years ago.
Wishing you every injury free success with your sub2 500m attempt and your sub8.30 2k attempt.
Out of interest, what DF do you use for sprints?

Thanks Jill. DF is set at 125 for everything at the moment. I even cleaned the flywheel yesterday
.
I havent really got my head around changing DF for different "events". The erg coach I found near-ish me tried some different DF's and suggested I push it up a little from the 112 it was on, then adjust to that for a while. I believe there are further discussions to be had, lots actually, I have thousands of questions.

125 is a good all purpose df setting in my opinion.
I managed a 10k PB today, df around 130.
Cheers,
Colin
