I know I've said it on FB already but congrats again on the shiny new PB for the FM - great work. That'll move you up the meterboard a few places!

Congratulations Lesley and Peter!
Great results!
Good to see that some can still sharpen their PBs!

Well done Peter, don't think I will be entering any PBs unless I do a 100k!. Now you have a flavour for the Marathon, why noot try an Ultra with me?

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Thank you guys
Dave is right Iain, I went lwt eight years ago, stayed lwt for about two years and then went back to hwt (which was the easiest part ). I don't plan to go back to lwt again though.

There is no Open weight record either, so would be overwhelmed if you would do it at your current weight! You don't get out of it that easy

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Since August 21st, I had no PB to report but today I finally managed one
The 1min PB was 341m (5 more than I had registered for C2CTC); hence I had to try again with Fred 340 and Claudius 344 as targets
Ended on 345m, which was a PB, but felt weak when reading James Hayter’s 362m

Great, Tako, well done. Sort of feel obliged to have another go now as well, not feeling very anxious about doing that. But what is a minute of pain on a lifetime? And James Hayter, well, that's just

It is as you wrote in the C2CTC draining the body completely.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
I'm dragging myself back into trying to be fast, and not just row for volume, so I started with the longest standard piece!
I improved on my previous best marathon from March 2019 ( 2:51:25.2 @2:01.8 ) with 2:50:54.6 @ 2:01.5. My last effort was at 10 or 15 lbs heavier, and it's interesting to see the different stroke rates: 23 then vs 26 this time.
Also, after a long hiatus I have tried the CTC this month twice, but HD'ed at about 25 seconds. I'll give it another go again soon.
P.S. Tako, that's a mighty 1 minute effort!
Cheers,
Colin

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
That is an amazing FM Colin!
Now I know how you manage that mileage at the top of the table, as I was wondering where you find the time for it, but with that speed!!!
Sprinting 1min and an FM are really do different animals, so be careful not to get injured.
Strange enough the 500m and the FM were my only greens in the Meta-Nonathlon last season.
But the FM was at a pace embarrassing compared to yours.

Very well done Colin, now you know any other PB attempt this season will be very much shorter

Deep respect for a absolutely a wonderful PB, Colin. Good luck with all that short stuff, it'll be over in the blink of an eye as Wolfie states.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Fabulous FM Colin and enjoy that shiny new PB.
Super short sprints are weird. On pretty much any other other distance any thought of quitting with 35s to go would be insane - but on a minute of that level of intensity of exertion 35s can feel like an eternity.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Congratulations Colin on the FM PB. That hurts just looking at that result. Well done!
Improved my 6k time over the weekend. Chopped 2 min+ of last seasons best so pretty happy with that, slipped under the 26min 25:49.9. Now to update the signature for this season

Two minutes off last season's best really is something to be happy with. Great.

I‘d echo what Feed said, 2 minutes off a 6k is huge, well done!

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Well it’s a few years since I wrote anything other than congratulations to others on this page.
I set out to do a steady 30mins R18 row today but after 3k boredom set in and a little voice convinced me that having a bash at the Nonathlon 1k was a far better idea.
So I bashed one out.
As you can see it was all a bit “fly and die” I was aiming at anything lower than last year’s 3:33.9. So I was pleased with the result. It was only afterwards I realised it was a PB by a whole 0.6 seconds, set in 2015.
The low rating rowing I am doing is really helping on various fronts it would seem.
To top it all, it is the first time I have ever scored over 900 on a Nonathlon event

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
I had an early morning crack at the HM today to bag the Summer Solstice challenge at the same time. A friend offered to row with me, so we had the slightly odd, but ultimately enjoyable experience of rowing together over video. I would recommend this if you get a chance. He is a very strong rower and a good adviser on technique. Needless to say he finished 1,800m / 10mins ahead of me!
My previous PB was 1:28:56.5 from 2015 when I was training for a 100k otw row. I have been doing a lot of long distance, low rating work lately and so was quite hopeful that a PB could be on the cards.
I ended up with 1:27:35.4. A 1:21 improvement which is more than I had expected.
The rating was nice and low and pretty steady. I am quite comfortable rowing at an HR around 170 so I backed off the pace a little after 14,000 to try to keep things under control. The final blast over 3k nearly killed me.
This has also moved me up the Nonathlon nicely with dark green dominating the scores at the moment. The 60 minutes is interpolated from the HM.
My legs are not working well at all right now
