Nice rowing Jon, nearly the French protocol!EF warm up really worked as you got your HR up quickly and so didn't pay too much for the quicker start. Sub 7:20 next time

Nice one Jon =D> =D> - must be very satisfying to PB on the "Blue Riband" distance.

great row Jon...it was before i joined the Strava Free Spirits group...so i had a eye on it today...next 2k goal...sub 07:15 ? Or choosing another distance...because season ends soon...today i had to make the decision between a 2nd go for the ctc or a HM...i opted for the HM and was happy with my result...finally i dipped under that magic mark of 80min...the long slow endurance stuff payed off...had to backup 8km before the finish...but emptied all the fuel in the last 500m and as a consequence in doing so i experienced my Hr max of 181/min...thats truly a rare experience...@74,1kg DF108

Anyone had any PBs recently?

Post by JonT »

After the pleasure of setting a new 6K PB for the CTC and looking at my PB and SB for the 10K, I was pretty confident that they were within my sights as I did the IRL today. My confidence was misplaced. #-o

Previous PB was 39:54.0 (pace 1:59.7), set in 15/16 season. I don't remember setting my SB (41:07.4) but whenever I did it I must have been messing about.

Image

I found this very hard after only 2K and just hung on to my PB pace until the very end by which time I was completely spent. The rating of 28 was a lot higher than I had planned, but this was where I felt most settled. I'm not sure if this is why it was so tough. Improvement of 10 seconds which feels tiny compared to how hard I had to work for it.

With the IRL complete I now have no "duties" for the rest of the month, so no need to worry about any vaccine side-effects when I have the jab on Wednesday. Yes, I did schedule the vaccine around my rowing schedule - slightly obsessive??

Nice row Jon, only 1.7S/500 slower than 6k is a huge achievement, no wonder it was a struggle!

Congrats Jon...already spotted it on Strava, great row...

I did a 3rd go on that Marathon-Distance on Thursday...my 2nd was on 20.February...but...that one was a bit mispaced...so didnt rank it, i also had to alter the Drag during Race...it was with 115 to high for me for a Marathon. This time i set it up to 101 and that was fine. Stayed disciplined under a 2min Pace and that went well according to my plan- so no Game-Dynamic this time! But happy about a new Badge :-) . And happy with a new pb.

Great row again Jon👍👍

Claudius - that’s a fantastic FM - you are still 2 secs short of my PB so something for you to aim at next time
I am astonished that you can generate such pace at that DF - I would be lucky to get 2:30s at that DF😳😳

Great FM Claudius, really good consistent rowing.

PAul, I think the rest of us think the same at rowing with DF 300+. My legs muscles would be toast within a few minutes!

Paul, 216 is even higher than my DF for sprints...interesting how different the human body adapts !
