Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Took a little over 9 seconds off my 6k PB today. Got it down from 21:38.7 to 21:29.5
As with my failed HM found my old RowPro file so loaded that and raced myself - only this time I won
Pacing was pretty good - really emptied the tanks on the last 500m, a real chest buster!!!
Very pleased as all my PBs were set in either 2006 or 2007 so to get one now has made my day (to be fair 6k was my weakest one though)

Very very nice 6k Jainser - and 9 seconds off isn't too shabby at all. =D> =D>

Thanks Zoot. I had my eyes closed and counting at the end and mistimed the end finishing 10 secs too early so think I've got a bit more in me.zootMutant wrote:Well done, Richard! =D> =D> =D> Sometimes, surprise PBs are the best! Cheers.

What I didn't say, but thought, was that you may have lost some endurance, but keeping pace for almost an hour means that you still have some speed and aren't doing too poorly. And now a PB! Far out.jainser wrote:Jainser -- being able to keep pace with a PB from 6 years ago is no small feat... even if only for the first hour. Well done! =D> =D> =D>

We're not a million miles apart Thomas - we never have been. Also all your PB were set around a similar time (year) to mine. Late 30's must have suited us well!!!!!

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
In a moments madness decided to do a 50k earlier today with a sub 4hrs target,
first 20k went ok @ 2:18 pace but pace dropped about 4 secs each subsequent 10k as got more tired,
after 30k it became a pain in th ar*e but managed to somehow keep going & ended up with 3:59:10
also went through thr Mar in 3:20:45 - another PB, need to try & remember how to update PB chart now!
Glutes are now very sore & prob won't be able to sit for a few days....

Nice work Pete =D> - I know those sorts of distances are way out of your comfort zone.
50k - are you training for some big event on the horizon?

Took 7 seconds off my 10k PB today, down to 44:35.7. Felt like hard work in the heat.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Seems a bit ridiculous for me to talk of PB's given my (non) fitness levels and inexperience with rowing, but I beat my 2k PB 4 times in two days.
At this point it is probably worth mentioning I have only done about ten 2k set pieces, and I'd guess, less than 50k lifetime metres so it is understandable PB's will fall, (but it still feels bloody good to me lol)
Anyway, enough waffle, I will cut to the chase, from my 1st 2k time of 10:32.5 I managed to get it down to 8:49.8 last night, perhaps not so coincidentally I used some pace boats as I was just playing around with rowpro.
I felt the burn alright, in my lungs lol

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Thanks mate, I know it's to be expected at such an early stage but still, it feels like an achievement, a bit of progress.
I am at my limit at that paltry time, my lungs were shot (my vo2max score is even more pathetic than my 2k time lol) hopefully will improve in time... anyway, thanks again

Daz, well done mate =D> =D> =D> you put the effort in to PB, yes they will get harder but your CV will improve over time and the whole thing will balance out just remember little steps is the way forward, and don't over do it.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Did a 5k today for the facebook challenge. Started out at PB pace and was hanging on at half distance. Pushed on in the last 1000m to get a PB by 10secs. My dodgy ticker didn't appreciate my efforts tho' and had to do 157bpm at the end. Don't think I'll be doing another one soon
