Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks Lief! I watched the first one... now I'm off to watch the rest. :P Believe it or not, the complex stroke is one of the things I like best about rowing. There is always something to think about. Mix it up with different types of training... challenges... camaraderie... and competitions... and ...

Re: FS Mojo Row for October

Thanks Mat! 8) This was my first attempt at a 30' PB. Using Thomas' pace predictor with my 4' and 5k times, I was looking at around 2:04. It was very humid - and I'm not used to humidity - so I tried not to push too hard. I wanted to start ramping up the pace with 6 minutes to go. 30min, 2:03.3, AHR...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

So many great training rows! 8) Steve - looks like the fitness is slowly returning. Don't rush it. Christine - Excellent job on the 15k! Looks like those miles are starting to pay off. You do great at the CRASH-Bs! Liefcat - nicely done on the detour from the CTC into a 30' row! Gregor - finishing t...

Re: The Pete Plan

Grobi, it doesn't seem like 0.1 sec lost in 11 days is much. Especially if you handled down last time. Good job sticking it out! 4 x 2,000m r5' for me today. Using Thomas' pace predictor, I'm guessing my 2k pace should be around 1:54.5. Adding 5 seconds to that would be 1:59.5. This seemed a little ...

There's definitely something wrong with this post :? Ah yes, you were able to do it twice! Sounds like you need to go again at 01:51 for 3' and then leave your guts on the floor after the 4th  8) Doc's Checklist Did you try it again, you slacker? Check! Re: Free Spirit 5k to get the MOJO back.

Doc - it didn't feel conservative, but you are right the splits are certainly unbalanced !! - if I try for 2:01 for 1st 4K and then blitz it I feel under 20 is near. My problem is I do most erging in my garage, so I am worried if I really really (you know what I mean) go for it, I will not be found...

Newbie Questions

I have a number of questions that have been bugging me lately. They all concern protecting my back from injury through proper technique. I have watched these two training videos many, many times and have listened to the commentary. http://concept2.co.uk/training/technique_video http://www.youtube.co...

Re: The Pete Plan

Excellent, Philip! =D> Short pyramid for me today. I took Mark's suggestion and climbed the pyramid looking for a 1:57. Then I started cranking up the pace on the way back down. Obviously, sill room for improvement. 8) 4000__1:55.6 _250__1:56.6__143__32 _500__1:56.6__156__30 _750__1:56.4__161__30 10...

Re: The Pete Plan

Steady distance, today. 15k. Felt really out of it. Had to break it up into two sets so I could stretch and walk around for a bit. AHR 138, MHR 142, but the pace was down around 2:20 (Thursday's 10k was 2:14 with the same heart rate). I wasn't planning on it, but I think I need to skip tomorrow's st...

Re: 2010 Weight Loss Thread

Paul, I'm not sure I understand the units. You lost 3.2 kg in one week? More than 7lbs? That seems like an awful lot. :-k I would expect a loss at that rate to include a lot of muscle. Hopefully what you're looking at involves fluctuation and the actual rate is more sustainable... say around 1-2 kg/...
