Re: The Pete Plan

Thanks Huw and Mark! I was planning a 15k steady distance today... but bailed at about 6k when it became obvious that I needed rest and food much more than a workout. I'm off tomorrow, then back to the 8x500m on Monday. And thanks, Mark, with the pacing suggestion. I agree that somewhere between 7:3...

Re: The Pete Plan

Thanks Huw! I can always use a reminder about rest days! It easy to forget that real progress is made during the rest between workout! Sunday is my scheduled rest day. But every now and then I throw in an extra day for good measure. Today was my hard distance day. 30', 7413m... for an improvement of...

Re: FS Mojo Row for October

Giles - nice set of back-to-back SBs (7967 and 8007  ). At this rate, you'll have that PB by the end of the month! :P Nomugie - this is the thread for people who have lost their mojo and don't know where to find it. Give it a shot! You might be surprised. 8) Had a yucky, frustrating, don't-wa...

Re: The Pete Plan

Yowza, Huw! Very nice 5x1500m. Nice negative splits and then... wham! with the last rep! :P I bet Doug was surprised.

Another steady distance for me today. 8k @ 22spm, strapless. 34:21.0 - 2:08.8 - AHR 141, MHR 145.

2' improvement is great, Paul! I'm with you on being in the lower 50%. I'm hoping to change that on my next 30' attempt. We'll see.

Huw - nice SB on the 60'... and a nice 5k also! Still a ways to go, but coming along nicely. 8) Steve - keep it coming! Your rehab seems to be going well, too. :P Shang-Chi - some nice OTW for you! Plummy - almost 11 seconds on the splits differential - strong and controlled! Mark ...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Congratulations on the 7100m Christine! I am always amazed when I look at your heart rate data. Almost 30 min above 160bpm! (And for your last 10k it was about 34 min.) With a high of 185! What do you reckon your MHR is?

You know that you needn't PB for a 1k on this session? Yep! I just haven't had time to revisit the 1k - so many challenges! Grobi - nice set there... at least it looks like a nice set. Your description of that last rep sounds brutal. Great job of handling the daemons and pushing on! Som...

Re: Concept 2 Challenge series

Where were Strider and Stan when I needed them? I really didn't think that Grimsby would affect me after two days and nice steady 10k yesterday was a joy, but as soon as I had to move into fifth gear there was nothing there. I think that shows how hard you pushed at Grimsby! You just needed few ext...

Thanks Huw! First shot at the 4x1000m, today. More than 2 seconds off a sub-7 2k? Very nice Spider! And a sub-38' for a 10k at 40°C? I can't even stand up in that kind of heat (I start complaining when it gets above 25°!) Good job Giles! What is more impressive about Christine's 10k PB is that it was in fact a quadruple PB. ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

This time I thought I would do the HM first, and then get the hangover. So went off cautiously, then pushed it too hard to claim a 60' sb at just under 13300m then spent 8000m paying for it. Needed to seriously HTFU at the end, but quite peased with last interval as I had stopped for 30" with ...

That sounds like a pretty hard 10k, Huw. Especially with the sprints thrown in! Thanks, Kirby. I've hit a bit of a plateau with the weight loss, but I'm not worried. I was losing a lot of muscle, so I upped my calories. It will take a few weeks to get it straightened out, then the weight wil...
