Re: September ctc - 5k, standing start, unrestricted

Long time since I looked at CTC (ten years?)

I'm doing pieces designed to get me to a full marathon in a few months. Hence I'm churning along at a painful 2:23 ish pace.

If we need to fill another boat I'll happily contribute but ask forgiveness.

Re: Name that tune

It is called Shotgun but it's not this song.

I'll end the agony.

It's called Paradise.

I nominate Plummy to suggest the next song.

Re: Name that tune

she was in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

(Half decent?)

The song there was One of the Living.

She also features in Private Dancer where a number of songs were used. None of which I know the title of.

Extra points

I seem to recall we had a league once whereby you scored one point for meeting another FS in your home country and two points if you met them outside your home country. Obviously with lockdown if this were resurrected, it would be a low scoring competition. Next year tho.... I have family now in the...

Re: Musical Opinions - add yours here :-)

Glad to see that this thread is still running. Many of us are probably frustrated gig goers at the moment. Certainly we've gone from a couple a month to nothing since February this year. I've tried watching the various attempts made by artists to engage via virtual/digital - it's just not the same. ...

If it's any consolation Mr J, the times you quote have NEVER been within my capacity.

(And sadly will probably never be).

The long road back

Having finally managed to log in, like many more lockdown refugees, I'm also on the long road back. Having been an early joiner and active 2005 thru 2014, rediscovering the bike and a couple of surgeries on both shoulders pretty much stopped the rowing. Had a couple of dabbles but like others here g...

Re: What do you do..?

Greg, very interesting. I'll be in Mass this summer (Boston mainly) but we fancy a trip to Cape Cod as we've heard a lot about it. I am though going to hang around Maine a while as I just Ogunquit. Aside from being a place used a lot in The Stand, one of my favourite books, I might even get to bump ...

What do you do..?

When you're not rowing? No pressure but perhaps a few details of your job, your family, your interests outside rowing? I'll start. These days I run my own company and specialise is solving tax enquiries from our oh so gentle HMRC. Our client base is mainly contractors who have been subject to a long...
