So we have an update from Scottish Rowing. We're in the lead!! Heriot Watt university are chasing us, but as long as we keep on pushing on, we should be at the bar drinking cocktails before them.

Re: Row2Rio - anyone up for it?
As february draws to a close, we've all ben eating our protein bars and drinking red wine with diet-coke in order to keep the boat moving. And it was a good month. With one day of February left, we moved 2695Km closer to Rio. The downside is, we're beginning to run out of vaseline, and things are be...

I should be ok (again, as long as work doesn't spill - but it shouldn't). It's my Mum's birthday that weekend, but I'm sure she'll understand.

Re: Feedback wanted - video
That's a lovely smooth looking stroke. I wish mine was as controlled as that! Not that this may be the case with you - it's hard to tell - but one thing I picked up a while back was that I seemed to be going straight from legs to arms - and wasn't letting my backswing do a lot of the work for me. Th...

Re: Happy Birthday Recess - John Steventon
Aw, thanks guys! I had a fantastic weekend, spoiled rotten by everyone around me. Loads of new clothing for training as presents - so I can look fresh even when I don't feel it! Maybe overdid it a bit with the food/drink side of things (my plan was to do the CTC yesterday, but the big dinner on Satu...

Well done Felton. 0.2 is not to be sniffed at when you get under the 6:50's.
I'm going to have a bash towards the end of the month I think. Rather frustrating I can't use last weekend's result. I wonder if it was Feb 1st somewhere when I did it...

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Welcome Jaime - great team you've chosen (imagine if she'd chosen another one!!!) Tie a tie or belt around the fan cage to reduce the drag further - or a towel would work if it stays in place I stretched a T-shirt over it, and have got the DF down to 44 for her. She seems ok with it. I'm trying to ...

Wow! 17.7 seconds off 1000m shows a bit surge of improvement. Well done Kirstin!
I managed a smaller improvement with my 10K today - 36:36.8 (down from 36:40.3) Very pleased though, first 10K in a long time. Pro rata improved my 6k and 30mins on the way too!

Re: WELCOME to New Members
A big welcome to my 6 year old daughter, Jaime - who was so excited by my win at the weekend she now wants to get into rowing!!! We had a 'training session' last night - where she managed to row 872m, and was super excited by this distance!! She asked if she could join Free Spirits, and as such now ...

Re: Row2Rio - anyone up for it?
Ok, so we've been doing very well!! It seems the January challenge led a lot of us to really put our backs into it. 3746Km in a month between us all. That ain't too shabby!! 9,500Km (and a bit) from Scottish Rowing centre at Strathclyde Park to Rio. So we should get this done by March! http://s10.po...

Re: English Indoor Rowing Champs
It'd almost be worth going to Boston just to buy one of the used shiny black ergs though, wouldn't it? I much prefer them to the Model E's... I had a great day - even before I got anywhere near an Erg. The competition aside, I was really looking forward to meeting up with Dave again. It seems this '...

Oddly, I got a PB yesterday when trying the 5K. - 17:48.5
I say oddly as I thought I was taking it easy for 'taper week'. Hopefully this means I've had a development burst - not that I over did it!

Re: The B's in Boston
Unfortunately I need to wait as they've got me on hold if it runs over. But as much as I want to go back, I have to be realistic about why I'd be going back. It would just be for the experience, and it's a lot of money for that!! I can only really justify it if I have a fighting chance of winning a ...
