Re: Rowpro 10k May 13 17:45 GMT -- completed

I sounded happy as my form has been terrible lately and I was going to handle down at 30 minutes as I was suffering. Also, because of Rowpro, I stuck at it and completed the distance - AND because I wanted the Nonathlon points. It was quite a close race - at the back of the field. The guys at the fr...

Re: Rowpro 10k tonight ( 17:45 GMT )

I've put myself in as my motivation has flatlined completely and maybe this will kick start something. I'll probably cock up the login/start anyway

I'll be the skinny one right at the back of the pack

Re: 40 before 40: 26/40 done - getting faster/getting harder

Great work Thomas. Grit and determination is needed in abundance for this lark and the challenges we set ourselves/each other. I think we should gather forces for the last two or three if poss and join you on rowpro.

I'll be miles behind but I'll certainly try and be there

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Sympathies Mikkel - I am a bad hay fever sufferer also (May to September are the BAD months). I can take piriton to ease it but the only ones that work at all are the ones that completely knock me out... speaking of which, I went for a looong steady row but only managed 18k before I was drenched in ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

1k warm up at a pootling pace then a 60 minuter to try and get over 15k early in the season. Managed 15032m and it was HARD . I was going to handle down at 30 minutes/35 minutes, then "oh just get to 40", then 45 etc etc etc. Stuck it out and was pleased I did New blister on 3rd finger lef...

Re: Free Spirits to choose June CTC challenge

I just typed a long post on this the accidentally hit "escape" and wiped it - arrrrggggghhh For my two pence worth: We can vote as the facility is there and we are a democratic group! If people don't vote then they can't complain about the choices made I suggest we vote up to say the 25th ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

J-R - That image of you with your whip must have bounced oop north as I just finished my 2nd HM in 2 days (first ever time I've done 2 in 2 days!!). I was knackered before I started after yesterday's 23.5k but gradually eased into it and finished with a respectable.. 1:26:48.8 (2:03.5 average split)...

Hi Gooner,

60K with no breaks - highly impressed. =D> =D>

When you say breaks, do you mean rests for stretches etc, or not even a break for liquid intake etc?

I've saved the 2008 season's meter board standing, if anyone is interested. http://optics.szfki.kfki.hu/~karpati/ctc/meterboard-season2008.html Could we put this link on the home page so it's easy to find for posterity? Good work Stan! I agree with Wolfie - nail it in the first 1k and you've already bagged it. No need for a desperate mad dash at the end to make up lost time then

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Set the PM4 and Rowpro for a FM (not sure why). Got to about 23km and the blisters took over again. Tried to swap the gloves and re-tape the antiblister tape but lost the will to carry on. I was at 2:06.6 pace and the legs felt pretty good, still plenty of energy in them If I could sort out my hands...

Re: Meter board banter

I'm a bit bemused by the Metreboard readings.... There a plenty of FS'rs with no metres showing rowed for 1st/2nd/3rd May but with a total in the Season e.g. Craig McFarlane, Sarah Crosbie (picked at random, no offence intended). I'm not suggesting anything untoward but is there a mistake somewhere ...
