Re: "About me" - a place to introduce yourself
Welcome Massimiliano! If you decide to stick with it, I'm sure you'll see very rapid progress. Your overall fitness from running is good, but your muscles need to adapt specifically to rowing. I think this will be much faster than if you were a total couch potato who never exercised. Keep ...

A heart-rate-limited PB! That's even more impressive. =D> =D> =D>Draggon wrote:You can see I even slowed down for 500M at 8000M - since my hear rate hit 145, I wanted to give it some recovery.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2016/2017
Given you could do the last 400m at a pace more than five seconds quicker all of a sudden indicates that it's more a mental rather than a physical barrier which kept you from reaching 8:10. Have two or three speed interval sessions like 8x500/3'30"r or 4x1000/5'r more like a confidence booster...

Re: L4s, etc...the Wolverine(sque) Plan
Back on the Wolverine Plan. I like the Pete Plan, too, but there is a special place in my heart for wolverines. wolverine.jpg L1 -- 8 x 500m r4:00 -- 16:11.0 -- 2:01.3 Reading the WP notes, I was supposed to do my first 8x500 at my 2k pace (which Peter and I think will be around 2:02.5). It seemed p...

Well done, Draggon! 38 seconds on a 10k is a strong improvement... especially when you thought you were taking it easy.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2016/2017
Zoot, I reckon the pace for a 2k should be around 2.5 seconds slower than for 1402m. Was your Carroll Mc Naly row full on? If so, I'd expect a time around 8:10. 2k -- 8:13.6 -- 2:03.4 That was very disheartening. You are right, Peter, 8:10 would have been about right, except I just couldn't ...

Zoot, I reckon the pace for a 2k should be around 2.5 seconds slower than for 1402m. Was your Carroll Mc Naly row full on? If so, I'd expect a time around 8:10. Pretty nearly. If I did it again, I would make sure I was well-rested and maybe set a pace 0.5 seconds faster, but no more than that. I'll...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2016/2017
I managed a 5:35.8 ( 1:59.8 ) for the Carole McNally Memorial row (1,402m).
Anyone want to hazard a guess for what I should target for a 2k test this weekend? No serious rowing for 2 months now, but it's time to start ramping up my training.

Re: EIRC 2017
Re stroke rate I was pulling between 31~33 on my 2k until the last 300m or so and didn't deviate from that. I would struggle to get to 45spm in a 100m sprint and certainly couldn't hold it for 2000m. Regarding stroke rate, I was referring to your 500m row. I counted 43 strokes in the first minute (...

Excellent turn-out by Free Spirits! Woot! =D> =D> =D> I managed just under a 2:00 pace ( 5:35.8 ), which was my goal but was far slower than I'd hoped. What was the name of the song he sang - Hot Patootie? Yep. "Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul". By the way, Paulgould 's clue was: "You think you're so clever, and classless and free" ... but I don't think "The times they are a changin'?" is correct. (Could be wrong though....

I think I've entered an alternate universe. I've never heard of Devo, just about heard of Warren Zevon and I haven't a clue about the latest one, although I did see the original The Day The Earth Stood Still, starring Michael Rennie. Much better than the remake with Keanu Reeves. Sorry Paul. A miss...

Well done Dave, Ian and Guy! ^O^ ^O^ ^O^ Dave - I'm always amazed at how smooth and easy rowing looks compared to how it feels. I was surprised to count your strokes and find you rowing at around 43-45 spm on your sprint! You seemed so relaxed (up until the last 250m or so)! You had much better form...
