Re: July ctc - 555m/111m/444m/777m/333m/222m/666m 70“r

My first attempt at this month's CTC, and it was hard ... Plan was to pace it somewhere in the 1:52 - 1:53 range, with the 111 and 222 all-out sprints, the 333, 444, 555 around 1:52 and the 666 and 777 around 1:55. All went fine until after the 777 which I probably overcooked a bit, the next 333 was...

Re: June ctc - 10k, no stroke rate restrictions

Very impressive rowing from everybody =D> =D> =D> This is a CTC where the risk of HD-ing seems larger than in most other ones ... I've had 3 attempts so far, and inspired by other people's results I tried to go at my PB pace (40:38.0) for all of them. That would get me into boat 4 (no way would I be...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I'll have to thank Tako for this one  After he threatened to overtake me in the Nonathlon I decided to go for a few easy points yesterday, trying to improve my 6k time to last year's SB. However with about 2k to go I noticed that the forecasted finish time was only a few seconds behind my P...

Re: June ctc - 10k, no stroke rate restrictions

I had a second attempt today, almost 2 sec/500m faster than last time: from 2:10.2 to 2:08.3 average. It won't trouble Jan (who is yet to post a score) but may spur Jon P to have another go. Great improvement Rodger, looks like you're getting to grips with the pacing for this one and there may be m...

Dave, I landed on the 5 million meter mark today. I'd be very grateful for another gold star

Re: May ctc - 1k / 3'r / 992m, standing starts

There are not enough days left in the month for me to have another go. Go on and punish me then, so the lesson will stick. Thanks Rodger, that was good to know - gave me a fixed target to beat  . It was quite muggy today, and combined with my earlier failures that didn't make me ...

Re: May ctc - 1k / 3'r / 992m, standing starts

Now there is nothing for me to do but wait and see if Jan and/or Jon are going to punish me for my mistake. If you're reading this: if you row faster, please make it under 1:53 pace. :P Well done Rodger (I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this again ) I've had a couple of failed attempts ove...

Am I glad that I'm not anywhere near you and can just watch your exchanges from a distance  Excellent rowing both =D> =D> My excuse is I started whe...

Re: May ctc - 1k / 3'r / 992m, standing starts

It's great to see people helping each other to improve their times :D Today I had JonT to thank for finishing my CTC attempt (thanks Jon ) My best 1k time from last year was at 1:52.9 pace, so I was aiming for something around 1:54 for this one (total time of 7:34). Things seemed to go well...

Re: 2017/18 Summary and Aspirations for 2018/19

This is a great thread, good to read about people's experiences and plans. Good luck to everybody in making their plans come true  I'm a bit late with my entry, but was waiting to see how the marathon challenge would go, before committing myself to anything  After 6 months with no row...
