Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Changing my program so will have shorter sessions but two sessions on some days. This will let me get in more UT2 even if I skip one session. Also, resistance training crowded out to once per seven days now. Will find out if my joints can handle this. Tentative schedule if no breaks Day1: 10'; UT1 ...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

That is really something, Tako. Powerful strokes at the end with hardly any increase in heart rate. Might be a secret weapon for you.

Another fine row, John. Were you using the CTC for this experiment just because you had a recent effort to compare to?

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

2383m. Hoped for a bit more, but it's fine. No splits because I did it combined with a 20' cooldown as 2x10' /5'r. Was negative split though. 3/4 through had the thought "would it be so bad if I stopped and did this later in the month?" so guess I pushed myself about right.

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Every time I get kicked out of a boat, that boat floats a little higher  There's a good aspect to everything. Will try this one in two days. But can only guess at the pace, because had poor sleep before my 2k TT last month.

Kinda meh. Good news is, this is not a target for anyone. Free Spirits is just that good!

For instance, a 30spm20 piece requires 600 strokes. A rower may pull, say, 608 and still produce a valid entry. (I guess all the m...

Re: Nonathlon 2017

Please add e-Clair to this year's team, thanks.

If I do a marathon, I know I can prorate down to times for HM, 10k, etc. But can I prorate down to distance for 30/60 minutes?

Re: May ctc: Sub 7 long short intermittent intervals

If we could distribute the rest any way we want, I would take one second of rest per ten meters.

Aside, I'm sure that taking 90 seconds for the last rest must be a bad idea, because it is being spent only to make final 223m faster.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Good benchmark times which will give you great targets to attack next season. I think we can all see who will be the Meta Nonathlon leader  Thanks for reminding me that the nonathlon exists, since apparently I *will* be doing TT for more than just one or two ranking distances. Hope everyone...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Setting 2016 season marks this month in 10k, 6k, 5k, 2k. As first one, had to guess on the 10k pace, so that will be most easily improved. 5k today, drag 124.5, still had legs working at the end, even saw a 1:58. 22:44.6 2:16.4 25 4:35.9 2:17.9 24 4:35.4 2:17.7 25 4:34.6 2:17.3 25 4:33.9 2:16.9 25 4...

What are people thinking for rests? I'm thinking
65,65,65,65,65,65,30
or
70,70,70,70,70,70,0
or
80,40,90,40,90,50,30
Lots of possibilities.

Guessed to start out at 2:15 and see what developed. Immediately felt too good, so adjusted to 2:11.

Sweet =P~

Now if only Sam will declare the CTC equivalent to some planned session, you can do it truly rested.

[Also, nice work on Jon's big gain on the 2nd go.]

1529 (2:17.3), 1531, 1535 Will have to be good enough. Won't try again to go after another 3m. My focus this whole month is really increasing volume. Kirstin, I knew I was being conservative when I posted earlier, but not this conservative. Considering your 1402m time, and that I happened to notice ...

I set it up as 1402m intervals with 5' rest, first 2 targeting 2:20, so I could guess at my pace for Feb CTC. Worked out well. Convenient distance for us slow pokes.

I think Kristin [ehr, Kirstin] is going to end up doing 2:22 or faster. But what do I know. I'm waiting for more brave people to go first so I can make a good stab  I won't do it more than twice, and hoping for once.

Re: WELCOME to New Members

Thanks for welcoming me. I've always wanted to row. But you know how it is. For a long time it wasn't easy to find a gym with a rowing machine. And now I live nowhere near a gym. And then there is cost and space for one's own rower. But finally I decided that I really wasn't using my living room for...
