It's the only one that was also in a chart in the US. But I'm afraid that won't help much either.

And the complete first verse, except for the title in the last line. Better stop dreaming of the quiet life 'Cos it's the one we'll never know And quit running for that runaway bus 'Cos those rosey days are few And...stop apologising for the things you've never done 'Cos time is short and life is cr...

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
I've adjusted the scores now. Strangely enough we have one free spirit less then a couple of days ago. Frans, who was new, does have a Diamond entry, not for FS anymore. Perhaps in February.

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
Great you saw the light when asleep, Jon. Thanks a lot again. I'll adjust the scores later today.
At least you've had a close look at the code again, so when the c2ctc site changes I'm sure you can fix any discrepancies quite fast.

Leuk dat je bij het team bent, Frans. Welkom

Re: Name that tune
Well then, apparently that didn't ring any bells. I'll add the first lines of the song, maybe it helps.
Better stop dreaming of the quiet life
'Cos it's the one we'll never know
And quit running for that runaway bus
'Cos those rosey days are few
The early 80's.

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
Into scripting sometimes as well for work, I know it can be quite confusing sometimes. And sometimes for instance a tiny typo... Good luck, Jon.

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
No problem, Jon. I could calculate things myself of course, but your webpage has made me lazy.
So, instead of looking up what the points should be I'll wait for you. I think the right scores are somewhat a minor problem in the world at the moment.

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
I've started a new year in the board. Always slightly a bit more work, adding columns to the running totals sheet as well, but it's there. First of all a question for Jon: are these scores correct?? I don't know exactly how things are calculated anymore, there are a lot of participants this month, b...

By the way, my previous song was, as someone might have guessed from the last posts, Five years by David Bowie.

Re: Name that tune
Well, allright. Another attempt. This song was a number 1 in England, did hit a chart in the US, but the band was definitely less popular overthere. they were kind of huge in England. I remember hearing this song for the first time driving with a van through London, on our way to a studio where the ...

Re: Name that tune
You persuaded me to give another clue, Peter. The beginning of the song, with the title included... Re: Name that tune
Well, the title was already hidden in one of the clues. Maybe I should just hand it over and be more correct in my song once I might give it another try.

There's also a documentary about him. Same title as the song. Describing what music he produced in five of his most significant years.

Re: Name that tune
I must admit I didn't check any release info before I used these lyrics. There are around the world quite a lot of fans of this artist who died eight years ago this month, so perhaps there's one who's familiar with the lines and clues. Should I have another possibility to post a song in the future I...

Re: Name that tune
That didn't help much I gather.
Nowadays the future of the world is quite uncertain. In this song time left on the planet is very specifically limited. It's from the early 70's. Earth hasn't died in the announced time-frame.

Sorry it took me some time. Busy at work the last few days. The preceeding lines then, maybe it helps a bit. Re: Name that tune
I'm certainly happy to do so. I've got some lines which sort of intrigue me, mostly not for their poetic beauty, but more indefinable reasons. For this first one of me I'll stick with a British song. No idea whether it's easy to guess for you all, let's see what happens. Don't think you knew you wer...
