Re: Name that tune

It’s funny. I can hear the first two lines of those lyrics running through my head, but I can’t remember the name of the song. Paul, I think we had better call it a day on this one - it's Street Fighting Man. As you were first to suggest the Rolling Stones, I'll leave it up to you to come up with t...

Re: Name that tune

Paul and Peter, you are correct about The Rolling Stones - not sure if the song was covered by others. I do not think that providing anymore lyrics will be of any use but perhaps these two clues will help instead ... What could someone be if they were a guerrilla? In normal times, there would be ple...

Re: Name that tune

More clues - this is all of the first verse except that I haven't included the last three words.

Well now what can a poor boy do
Except to sing for a rock n' roll band
' Cause in a sleepy London town
There's just no place for a ...

Re: Millionaires club-Season

Thanks Jill. I thought for a minute you were going to try and rhyme Iain with brain Iain, even for me, that would be stretching the rules of poetic licence somewhat. You will have to be content with both words appearing in the same sentence/line. :fswink: Now look … said the boss … Iain’s...

Paul, after much head scratching, the last two lines of the verse finally rang some bells - is it Something In The Air by Thunderclap Newman?

Re: Name that tune

I've just watched and listened to the Rolling Stones version on YouTube. I don't remember ever hearing it before. Can't believe how young they all look. Thank you Paul. :) I had been reading some comments on a website when a contributor posted a link there about the radio advert and after listening...

Back to the 1960s now.

There is a very up to date connection between the title of this song and the Advertising Standard Agency.

More haste, less speed. Apologies, I should have added the following to my previous post. The Free Spirits’ BikeErg/SkiErg meterage list - as it is based on Monday’s figures, it might now be slightly out of date. Thank you Paul and yes, it is by the Beatles - Don't Bother Me.

The connection is Peter Jackson - he has made a documentary about the Beatles titled, ' Get Back ' which will be released sometime in August.

I can't think of another suitable tune to put up, so will let someone else take a turn.

Paul, that’s a very well thought out suggestion, especially as Liv Tyler starred in the LOTR trilogy - but alas, not the correct answer. I’ll have to be more direct or otherwise, I don’t think anyone will get this. There’s a clue in there somewhere. Beginning of the first verse: Since she'...
