Re: Name that tune

I was just wondering was the next line “And I’m going to drain the swamp and build a wall”? No, and for the record, I would much prefer to keep my nose out of American politics, especially as I have never understood them.  This is the full verse: I'm a political man and I practice what ...

Re: Name that tune

So the new one can't be any real politician who's ever been in government then    Steve, any attempts on my part to write about real UK politicians, would never get past the moderators. I think that many of us would agree that the phrase ' honest politician ' qualifies as an ox...

Re: Name that tune

So not 'You aint nothing but a Hound dog' then I'm afraid not Steve. :) This has obviously run out of mileage; it's Old Shep. Apologies to all Elvis Presley fans. And even more so to our dear and for some of us, never to be forgotten, departed canine friends.😘 Let's see how this one goes: I'm...

Re: Name that tune

A man and his dog? From the clues, it sounds like he picked up his gun to shoot the dog. I don’t know the song but it sounds absolutely dreadful. I can see why you might hate it. Paul, I am surprised that no one appears to know this song, as it's supposed to be an all time C & W great. The man ...

Re: Name that tune

From your clues I am going to guess Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender?? - taking a real flier here Paul, you are correct about the artist but not about the tune, and here, I am a little concerned that you think a song about a man and his dog, would be titled, Love Me Tender, Love Me Long. :lol...

Re: Name that tune

No takers I see - more clues then. Just a boy and his dog, we were both full of fun We grew up together that way This song was composed and first recorded in 1933 and has since been covered by many American C & W artists. The version that I'm thinking of came out in 1956 and was sung by an Ameri...

Re: Name that tune

Thank you Paul - that was one of my instant, ‘ I know this ‘ which doesn’t happened very often. And now for something completely different: if I was a captured spy, the quickest and most effective way to torture me, would be to lock me in a room and play ( on a loop ) all the songs that I hate. This...

Re: Millionaires club - 2021-22 Season

Poor old Mr Frog. :( I have no idea how his small, brown dessicated corpse ended up on the garden table. He is now buried ( after a Humanist ceremony ) underneath the filbert tree which overlooks the pond and as my mum’s earthly remains are already interred there, I know that he will be well looked ...

Re: Millionaires club - 2021-22 Season

Thankee kindly Mr Jon. :D xxxx If all my computer ‘ mishaps ‘ ( of which there are many ) were to collide somewhere out there in the internet ether, then scientists would be claiming that they had discovered a new black hole. Be very afraid. [-o<  About ten minutes ago, I discovered what...

Re: Millionaires club-Season

I like the idea of a new thread for each season. I have bouts of jumping on here lots and then life takes over and I might not get around to it for ages so I don't think I would be much help. Thank you Lesley and that's okay. :) A slight hitch about starting a new thread: I do not know how to make ...

It’s not that busy at this time of year, so I’ll leave you at it, but please get in touch at any stage if you get too busy and would like some backup. Thank you Paul - I will have to see how things go then and perhaps send out an SOS when necessary. If any other Free Spirits would like to add the o...

Yes, I was a bit surprised to receive a friend request from you as I was pretty sure we were already Facebook friends. Anyway, that explains it! Re-connecting to Facebook Friends

I had to deactivate my Facebook account and am now gradually adding friends again, so if in the next few days you receive a friend request from me, it will be a genuine one and not from a hacker/spammer etc. I have always been an infrequent poster on Facebook, so if anyone wishes to take this opport...

Re: Millionaires club-Season

I used to be the main rapporteur on this thread, but Jill took over while I was on my break and has done a far better job than I was doing. If I may make a suggestion Jill, as this thread has now reached over 120 pages, maybe it’s time to start a new thread - perhaps a reset at the start of each ne...

Re: Name that tune

Paul, I had to consult Mr Google on this one and didn't recognise the song or the artist, which comes as no surprise as I'm not a fan of country and western. As a child, ( and this might be a clue  :fswink: ) I loved this biscuit, although over the years, it has definitely shrunk in size. :(
