As promised in my return from surgery I present a slow 6K done a few days ago. The best I can say is it floated a boat.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Now allowed up to 30min rowing, no sprinting. Relegated the bikeerg to warmup duties, largely. I dont want to waste row time on a warmup. Won't be long before im fully back but it will be lots of tedious 75% hr work to rebuild a base.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Boring I know but now at just over 8 weeks post surgery I have been allowed to row for 10 min a day, gently. Biking is allowed so now doing an hour on the bikerg most days as well. Taken me most of the last week to settle back into a passable rhythm and now doing 5 x 3 min. I realise that is more th...

Re: ErgZone
I love using ergzone. Great to preprogram the session. If you do like a just row option then have a long row in your app and just stop when you have had enough. Great if you start out to do a HM and decide 60min was enough :). They are really quick to answer questions on facebook as well. A paid sub...

Re: Strava Club - come and join
Just poked my head into the forum since I haven't been rowing much, just getting in 10-15 mins a day - all that I have been allowed. Joined the strava club as I have been doing a lot of bike metres. Pity it doesn't record erg metres particularly well but at least it reads my Polar data quite nicely....

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
Thanks Jon and Iain. The ranked workouts was the one I was thinking of. I'm highly motivated by numbers and setting targets. I will check out the c2 forum as well when I get a chance.

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
Not sure where to put this but I think I recall someone posted a link they had put together that pulled in all the concept2 results not just the season ranked events. You could compare across all seasons at one time. Did I imagine this? Can it be reposted pretty please. I'm hoping March for the CTC ...

Re: Advice needed re rowing machine for someone with Spina Bifida
Some of our older gentlemen (>90) prefer to use the tractor seat on the concept. It certainly holds them on the seat better. No idea how much one would cost though. Some of our invictus games athletes also modify the seat quite successfully for themselves. One I know uses a clamp to hold the seat in...

Had to look up what a perros de monte was - apparently also called a bush dog or vinegar fox. Kind of cute looking dog/fox cross thing.
Good luck with the rowing comeback, sounds like life is busy.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
As I'm a rather competitive person, I was interested how I am doing compared to others. That statement is so me. Nice work on the ranking site. So much easier than doing it year by year. I am quite driven by the numbers. Probably asking a bit much but is there any chance you can have the 2000m even...

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard
Thanks Fred for all your continuing work. And to all the gentlemen with their king words. I won't be able to row Jan or Feb either :(. Probably a slowish one in March depending on how long it takes to rebuild to anything close to normal. Life - A game of snakes and ladders. Next time life rolls the ...

I can't row - too much core involved - but I have started some gentle bike erg. Metrees are being counted for this challenge, I just have to do twice as many

Re: December ctc - 813m, standing start
Unfortunately my penchant for leaving these to the end of the month has backfired. I had emergency surgery on Christmas day, nothing like being dramatic. I'm not allowed near any ergs or my home gym for 6 weeks. Puts paid to competing virtually at worlds as well. Life happens, just bad timing. All g...

Re: NOVEMBER 2020 - CTC
Well this was a place marker to see how far behind my form is compared to a month ago. Average ended up at 2k+1.7 . Happy that I could actually put in an effort and it felt like there was effort, I can assure you. In the last month that hasn't been possible. If I saved a bit on the first 1 min I mig...

Re: peak force, avg force, DF, stroke rate, cardiac adaption and the role of muscle fiber types
Great topic of conversation. I just wish I understood more. I knew I didn't have the knowledge to design my own erg training plan and after following the beginner PP I was looking for something different. I also realised that I wouldn't improve anywhere near as much without someone to write a streng...

All the gory details in the training and racing forum under Queensland indoors. A small PB of 1.1s in the 2000m at the Australian championships. Pushing the Australian record just a little further from others .

What a great weekend of erg racing. Australian National Champion 2020, womens 55-59 HWt in 2000m and 500m. The AIRC is run across several physical sites and this year, virtual as well. All results then put together by time -team. Http://time-team.nl/en/info for all the gory details, use matrix resul...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Ooops I did it again
My 10k time was old compared to the other distances. A programmed 10k piece with a rate cap of 20 and HR cap of 80% led to a slightly better time, now 45:26.0 it was 46+. This can be better with a more deliberate effort, but I'm happy to claim that PB

Re: Queensland Indoor Rowing Championships
Well the State Championships are done. I'm glad I got to compete at the NSW indoor series (zoomed in from Brisbane to Sydney) so I knew what the whole procedure was. NSW indoor series had 2 rounds and then their State Champs which unfortunately were on the same day as the Qld champs. With no competi...

Re: October ctc - 30 mins., standing start, unrestricted
First, thank you Jon for your kind words in the September CTC thread. All my blood and sweat - no tears yet - have to be doing something. Blood in the home gym scraping the bar on my shins for which I am told is a good thing. My best 30 min is 7201 but I had programmed a 30 min piece this morn...
