Re: 2013 Weight Loss Thread

Ooh, very nice, Paul. Biggest weekly loss of the year, and now 3.6kg in three weeks. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it! =D>

Re: Making (Light)Weight - How is it for you?

I've been a LWT since Dec '11, having lost 11kg in the previous 3 months. I've only raced once as a LWT (one month later) but the weigh-in was a straightforward affair. I think I only took my shoes off, and even then I needn't have bothered. Since becoming LWT, I have managed to remain there, with m...

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km

A few updates since the last leaderboard, and a first for the 15% 'female' bonus. Puts millie straight in at #2. Will she aim for #1 later in the month? I don't think she could resist the challenge! :fswink:

Re: How hard can/should you train when you have a cold?

Ooh, good post, Mike. Especially given where I'm at these days. I've pretty much had something or other since just before Christmas, which resulted in failing to attend two championships, and cost me a shot at the level of PBs my previous training had warranted. Frustrating. But the cause is similar...

Nice one, jainser, well done. =D>

I think it's fair to say this has been a slow start from the team - two boats floated and fifteen entries to date. I know we can do better than that, but plenty of time left in the month.

Re: WELCOME to New Members

Thanks for taking the time to write that up for us, Daz. I have to agree with Colin and millie - small steps are the way to go at the moment, and celebrate every milestone. And as millie says, there is a weight-loss thread here if you wish to join in. I don't know if you know of the TV programme The...

A first PB for three years should provide inspiration for us all. Our best days are not necessarily behind us - don't give up.

Re: WELCOME to New Members

Welcome to the team Daz. I don't use RowPro, but I'm sure you'll find plenty of races to do online. If not, there are plenty of other challenges to get into - CTC, C2 Challenge Series, WAARC, etc. As far as stupid questions go, they are only stupid if you know the answer but you ask anyway! Otherwis...

It's been a fantastic effort from the team - a huge thank you to everyone who got on the erg, rowed for 30mins, and submitted their distance. =D> Many have already said it's been the best CTC participation from Free Spirits for ages. The following should show just how good: ctc.JPG Apologies for the...

I decided to have a go at this today as a cool-down - 3:57.7. Wanted to be the first to submit a time, but the CTC site is still on last month's.

Hopefully will go much faster later in the month.

I think we're all looking forward to seeing how you get on with your first 2km, millie!

Starting from this challenge, I'll incorporate a 15% 'bonus' for being female. There will now be just one, combined gender, leaderboard.

Nice one Stan.

No attempt from me this month, which is pretty poor given I run this challenge. In my defence, illness got in the way.

Here's the current leaderboard. And unless anyone submits a late attempt, it will also be the final one.

Re: February CTC - 30 minutes

Three ladies posted a distance last night. To float our 12th boat, we just need two more people. If my understanding of the rules is correct, we need one lightweight (male or female) and one other member.

Today is the final day of the challenge - can we do it?

Re: Heart Monitors

I do appreciate that having the heart rate on the monitor would be 'easiest', but I draw the line in buying a heart rate interface and installing it every time I go to the gym. If having a watch on my wrist isn't working, I'll strap it to the erg so I can see it easier. millie, I had been torn betwe...
