Team total now stands at 99,884,217.

Only 16k to go for the 100 million.

Might just have to get on the erg and do that myself, right now!

Has got me thinking about my favourite rowing stories now. Remember one time we were out on the river on a choppy day, fair bit of splashing and spray going on. Could hear one of the blue boats approaching (you can tell them by ear because the timing is so perfect). Turned out to be the ladies light...

Rowed at college for two years in the early 90's, which was where I was first introduced to the dreaded 'Erg'. Nothing is better than gliding down the river in May in glorious sun, with the boat perfectly sat, all 8 of you in perfect harmony. For anyone who hasn't been in an eight, it feels like you...

They definitely become more of an issue as you ramp up the distance. Stuff that wouldn't hurt you on a half marathon can raise some evil blisters by the time you get to the full 42k. Part of it is that your hands are sweat soaked and therefore effectively wet for 3 hours, and as we all know, wet ski...

Ah, there's a rowing ONLY race, for those of us who can't face the other bits. One day I'll have a go at the full rowathlon, but not this year!

I think that may have been when we caused the panic amongst the CTC people that we were going to vote for the 60 minutes.

Impressive stat tho!

Ok, another slightly contrived pair of PBs.

6 x 500m, 2 min rest, Av 1:37.9
8 x 500m, 2 min rest, Av 1:39.2

(yes, popped on interval 7, but then I only used to do 6, so still happy with this result)

Good luck with the second attempt SandBaggerOne.

Also, check out the ELM and ELM fun leagues - I've put a couple of weight corrected challenges in there, and as a Lightweight with great times I reckon you'd do very well on them.

Too late guys, if Stan has already told the CTC organisers we've picked 4k.

But keep the ideas in a list for either ELM challenges or the next time we get to chose CTC (probably over a year away now).

Rita, Taking your resting HR is EASY. Just stick your HRM on record and go and lie down for half an hour. Helps if there is no caffeine in your system (or anthing else which might affect your HR). If you don't know what it is, assume 60 to start with, but bear in mind that if it is significantly dif...

Marginal improvement on my recovery rate (HR capped at 70% WHRR) Half Marathon tonight - 1:26:14.2. This time I was rating 21, 3SPM lower than last time I did this. Gave me a nasty blister though

Sounds good to me - you going to do the honours, Stan?

Think there was a bit of a panic going on when the other teams thought we were going to pick 60mins. Maybe you should tell 'em we selected a marathon instead, just for the hell of it...

Congratulations to Steven Howland for hitting the big 7 figures.

A massive well done to Tricia Blank who has just cleared 2 MILLION METERS! Well done Tricia!

Paul and Stan, watch your backs. Yuri and Laura are back on the erg, and tomorrow may be a "long big back pain wednesday"...

Getting near the team 100 million now - up to 98.5 million - less than 1.5 million to go. Wonder if we'll make it before the end of August?

Very useful for those on the C2 Interactive Programme

A whole 'must-read' thread for anyone following a structured training programme, and particularly those on the C2 Interactive Programme.

Follow the link to the UK forum from the first article in this 'Tips and Technique' thread:

Training Programmes and Intensity - Pace OR HR?

Very useful thread on the concept 2 interactive programme (IP), and whether to train by pace or HR (and then HR Av or HR max). Anyone following that plan should definitely read this, and anyone using the Pete Plan (PP) or the Wolverine Plan (WP) would be likely to benefit too. http://www.concept2.co...

Strange and unusual excuses for not rowing

Here's mine as a starter.

Yesterday I managed to receive the first (or at any rate first _external_) injury from a curry.

Cut my thumb open on the corner of the foil dish thingy while opening it.

Hence couldn't row today.

(Beats my previous attempt of - can't row - have blisters on my ar$e)

Well done Stan - the 15k for the hour is getting ever closer! John: I got a C breeze ages ago, but then got the fans sorted out before I got round to fitting it, so have to confess have never actually tried it. Will get it out and put it on sometime and see how it goes, and then report back. I know ...

Thanks to John for that fascinating account of his experiences. And a big well done for his achievements too. John, here's some feedback and a few thoughts on the points you raise at the bottom of piece: 1. I row with two big fans pointed at me. One reason for this is that I always run very 'hot' es...
