Re: Name that tune

The whole first verse:

Oh, the heads that turn
Make my back burn
And those heads that turn
Make my back, make my back burn

1985 original release but didn't chart very high. In my view it's an instantly recognisable intro (but of course, easy when you know it)

Re: September CTC: The Rowing Maul

Did my one and only attempt last night. It was pretty brutal. I didn't want to do it before I started but wanted to "take one for the team" and at least lay down a score because "it's only 4750m" and the rests to be fair, are quite generous. The whole 3 minutes rest before the la...

Re: JR s health update

As Draggon has said, there's a lot to unpack there. The good news is, they have what appears to be an accurate diagnosis and there's a definitive path forward. I've has tests for "electrical misfiring" over the years (this year and 12 years ago) and was advised "not to worry" but...

Gold star awarded Allen. Congrats on the 10 million landmark - that's a biggie.

Maybe worth celebrating with a T-shirt from C2?

Re: Dog Days

3 days on the trot putting metres but it's an unpleasant slog like last year. Fortunately one of my day's labour was called off owing to the garbage weather we are having in the UK so with 4.5km to go, barring a disaster, I should crawl over the line tomorrow. I'm not doing any extra though!!

Re: Dog Days

I normally top out at 20~25km a week so last week's 30km was pretty tough. I can see me failing at 40km because I have other commitments time-wise. I've chucked an extra session in today because I had a free evening but tomorrow and Sat are fully booked doing hard physical work. Even there might be ...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Missed yesterday, and needed to make up some meters for the Dog Days, so did the hour of power. Shockingly, another weak event from last year -- so my 13437 actually passed my previous best by 43 meters. Woo hoo. Well done sir - a 43m increase probably shows that the previous one was a genuine &quo...

Looks great Peter. You'll love the A380 (especially if you are on the upper deck). Enjoy - everyone deserves treats like these.

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

The mental battle with wonky technique continues unabated this year but managed 2 x 30 min rows last week with the 2nd one being better than the first - and therefore by default a new SB @ 6813m (last year's best was 6954m). I spotted I hadn't tried a 500m this season in anything other than "bi...

9:29.2 for my first effort (9:14.3 last time I have a record of doing it in July 2021) - felt tough all the way through to be honest...(ok, the first 100 wasn't too bad ;-) )

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

As Jon says- welcome back. Every journey starts with that single step! - again ;-)

I managed an SB at 2k on Saturday (not that I'd done anything bar glorified warm-ups at that distance) getting down to 8:14 and change (SB last season was 8:08 - so maybe do-able to scrape ahead of that).

Not sure where to put this so opted for here...I definitely rowed more than 1900m on June 19th (Juneteenth challenge) and I have no icon. Was I suppose to sign up for it on the C2 site (I think I assumed it was automatic)?

Heard this on a Juke Box Hero quiz on the cruise I've just been on - couldn't find it as being used before:

I practice every day
To find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
