Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Congrats Yambo! I agree - knocking off 10 seconds in one go is very impressive - would have taken guts to stick to that pace knowing it's a fair bit faster than your previous PB so to you!

Perfect! My OTW season will be over in 2 weeks and I was thinking it would be good to focus on 5k for a while so this is good timing!

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Congrats on the 5k PBs Richard and Doug! Richard those shorter distance PBs especially the 1k are just asking to be beaten..... Think you'll be posting back here soon - you're on a roll!

Re: keeping feet in the erg
The older the straps get the looser they seem to get - I recently asked my gym to replace the straps on some of the machines as they were coming loose. Whereas the newer ergs at my rowing club are fine. You might be able to double the strap back through (not sure if this is what plummy is suggesting...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
brilliant effort Richard! good pacing too - conservative at the start, and a brave (and correct) decision to up the pace after the first 30 mins. does look like you would be able to go faster too given you could hold the faster pace and increase at the end, and sure the glute wobble is a just a resu...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Good luck - If you can do an hour (which you have) then you can do the rest. Just think, if you stop after an hour then when you have another go you'll have to do that hour all over again! If you think I'll need a fan you obviously haven't seen the UK weather lately Coldest March for 50 Ah yes I had...

Re: WAARC - April 2013 - 60min
My first foray into WAARC. Not exactly an "Hour of Power" but a PB for me Well done Richard! I think just finishing the hour is a great achievement in itself, and a PB is always good!! And definitely the more the merrier  Well done millie! You realise that 13772 is nearly 1/3 of ...

Re: April CTC: 639m.
First go at this today - am ultimately targeting around 1:43 pace for this which given I did 500m @ 1:41.7 only a couple of months back I think is achievable. However, didn't quite make it today - no power (may be something to do with the 'hour of power' I did yesterday for the WAARC??). Still, have...

Re: WAARC - April 2013 - 60min
Well done on completing your first hour of power, millie. And a nice pace too. Thanks Alan Will you be tempted to try this one again? Well..................I think I will at some point, but unlikely this month - think my next long row will be the 10k as will be guaranteed another PB  . I reall...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Good luck Richard and make sure you tell us all about it!
I have absolutely no experience of HM rowing so can't pass on any words of wisdom
Make sure you're near a fan??
Make sure your music (if you have it) goes to 90 mins and doesn't stop after 45 mins?
All the best!

Re: WAARC - April 2013 - 60min
Was supposed to do a 90 min OTW session this morning but been raining heavily nonstop for the past couple of days so my coach said we wouldn't be going out... so of course the first thing that comes to mind is that it's a perfect opportunity to do the 60 min WAARC!! Total 13772 2:10.6 @ 20spm weight...

Re: Rowing strapless
Hi oversight - I do a lot of strapless rowing but on slides, so there it is really momentum of the erg and also moving your body weight forward that gets you up the slide. I guess on a static erg it will really just be the latter, so focus on hands away, bend forward at the hips and allowing your bo...

Re: Team 100 hour relay - 22% full as of 13th *March*.
What's the latest with this? Given there are still a lot of empty slots I think 100 hours, whilst a great BHAG (big hairy audacious goal), is only going to happen if those already entered do a full marathon instead of their 30 / 60 mins!! I'd also suggest going for a smaller goal (remember it's qual...

Re: WAARC - April 2013 - 60min
Ah I knew something like this would happen sooner or later... The positive about doing 60 mins is that it will be a PB whatever the distance is  The negative - never done anything other than an easy UT2 60 mins session so it will hurt!! Just have to work out when to do it given focus is the 1k ...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Well done Richard and Alan on your PBs!
Alan looks like you're well and truly over your cold / flu thing!
Richard - since you had a lot left in the tank for the final 1000m looks like you'll be able to go even faster next time!

Re: The Boat Race 2013
And I will enjoy one of the rare opportunities to watch some rowing on TV! Very true (sadly) - although last weekend we had 3 days of live rowing on the TV as there was a world cup regatta on in Sydney. Great conditions for the whole regatta. For those in Oz, the boatrace is on Foxtel on Eurosport ...

I'm hoping to make my attempt over the weekend. Not looking forward to it one bit. All the best Alan! I was hoping to have a 3rd attempt on Friday but my legs were just stuffed after the pretty intense OTW training I'm doing at the moment - got 3 big regattas in the next 6 weeks so my erging will h...

Also interesting to see the team in 7th place which is classified as a correctional facility - they are averaging 480k per person!! The info about the team is: "These are inmates at a state prison and they row incredibile #s. I cannot use their names for privacy reasons. All #s are recorded on ...

Re: World Erg Challenge, 15th March to 15th April
Just had a look at the team standings - blown away by how far some of you guys are rowing (Colin and strider are the only names I recognise from the forum in the top 10 so ^O^ ^O^ to you two and everyone else). Shame I can't count my OTW meters as I do a lot more OTW than OTE but even then would be ...

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Good job Paul! And I like your tactic of waiting until after your birthday :D Looks like I need to go just over 2 seconds faster to push ahead of Plummy - so hoping I get another chance to have a go in the next week... We're doing a fair bit of OTW training at the moment as just about to head into o...
