Re: Basingstoke 2500 - anybody going ?

I've made a rather foolish decision and entered this event today. Being in the middle of competition is just too good to miss if the day is free, so I won't worry too much about not performing 100%. I won't be doing the short sprints though. Bill (Doctor) I don't see you on the entry list? Stan, Plu...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Well done with the mile time Petr 8)

Bill, regarding the warm up, I'm a user of it too and I actually think it's spot on. My only comment on your figures would be that you don't leave enough gap between the warm up and the actual "race" piece. Should be 20 minutes, not 10, I think.

Re: Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.

HI Stefan, I found that long steady rows helped me enourmously, and I think Stan has mentioned the same thing before. The key for me was to decide what I was going to do BEFORE I got on the machine, and stick to it. Every time. In fact, that's essential for every training pieve anyway in my opinion....

Re: Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.

Hi Paul, it seems I'm suddenly getting through the "other side" so here are a few pointers from my perspective; - I never lost sight of the fact that I love actually rowing, and the physical benefits that it brings. - Knowing if I stopped I'd pile on the pounds was also a motivator. - It h...

Good to hear you are on the road to recovery too John.
However, when I said I got a temprary seat in boat 3 I did think it would last a little longer than an hour or so !

Re: March CTC: 1,609m (1 mile)

3rd, and probably final, attempt for me.
An improvement of 2 seconds to 5:28.2.
Gets me a temp spot in boat 3, but more importantly is another step in the right direction. The long r20 sessions have paid off, (no more whinging comments about back pain now, I promise  )

Re: Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.

Does sound like a viral low energy thing you have there Thomas.
Stan's words are wise as ever, I particularly like the idea of monitoring resting HR.
If all else fails, dig out a nice bottle of red wine and give the rowing a few more days off.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

I think I remember reading somewhere that ealry training is actually very good for you. Just a kick start of a cup of coffee before hand is a good idea.

More r20 stuff for me today. 20k @ 1.59.5. Very pleased.

Nice one Stan 8)
I found if I do a few regular 60min pieces they get easier (stating the obvious really  ) so a few more will see you hit 15k. :D

Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.

I'm in a bit of a hole, and I'm not quite sure what to do about it. I can't shake off the nagging back ache that's been dragging on since the pain in mid December. It's not stopping me rowing, does not hurt whilst I row, or immediately afterwards, just generally aches for the rest of the day (before...

Congrats to Scott, hopefully the feeling of exhaustion was mingled with more than a little bit of satisfaction too Scott. You'll come to love it.

Nice 30r20 Petr. Better than this 6'4" HW
